Julia Vase 001 Coral
I just could not resist, the perfect combination of two totally unrelated functions morphed into, dare I say, perfection.

This dry flower vase was derived from the Julia Fractal Set.
Instead of high iteration full color imagery, as is common, one can also trace a line over the lower iterations.
Then by slowly altering the input values, we are morphing the fractal while traveling the Z-axis.
And beautiful and elegant forms appear.

The finishing touch in the Coral Vase was done by applying a Voronoi pattern across the surface.

Circa 12.5 cm high with 1mm thick walls, this is suitable for all Strong & Flexible materials.
I recommend the polished.

Part of the Julia Vase collection.

This model is a "2D" version of the Celtic Knot with seed 12. It matches with the 3D version that uses the same seed and can be found here: http://shpws.me/3L17.

The model has been successfully printed using WSF polished, with nice results. The model has four loops and although the weave was supposed to allow a gap between the threads where they cross, they're actually fused in the final print.

Note that the colour image is purely to illustrate the four different threads. The model doesn't actually contain colour data.

Another entry to the contest. Decided to make my own version of the Mogu'shan Palace area in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. I didn't build it exactly the same, a few things are different. Kinda wanted to do the whole area, but I know theres a limit to how large these can be, so I just did a section of it.

A Celtic knot object generated as a three dimensional knot constrained within a cube.

The knot is made up of 14 looped paths that intertwine to create a single object. The pattern uses the same general set of mathematical rules as traditional two dimensional celtic knotwork, but generatised into the third dimension.

The model has been successfully printed and feels quite sturdy using white strong & flexible. The diameter of each piece of 'string' is 3mm and the model is just under 8cm along each edge.

A wireframe geodesic sphere with small holes at the vertices made with TopMod. I designed this to transfer a geodesic design onto a ball as shown in my profile photo. After receiving the printed model I cut it into 2 hemispheres and put the ball inside. I connected the halves together using small sections of wire insulation of just the right diameter. I then inflated the ball to fill the model and marked the vertices through the small holes using a fine pen.

This is an MRI of my brain. I converted the DICOM files to a polygon mesh with OsiriX ( http://www.osirix-viewer.com/ ) and then smoothed the mesh with Blender ( http://www.blender.org/ ) Feel free to use this anywhere, but If you use this somewhere, I'd love to know!!!

This model is a version of the 3D Celtic Knot with seed 2, generated with thicker walls and as a single shell to allow printing in bronze. The knot has 10 loops, but the threads fuse together where they cross to create just a single shell.

The photographs show the result in bronze. If you want a different material I'd recommend going for one of the models with thinner threads as the result is more delicate.

However, as a bronze model, I'm really impressed with the results. It's very sturdy and has a good weightiness to it, while still managing to be quite delicate and with a great finish. I'm amazed at how well its been 3D printed. This model is a version of the 3D Celtic Knot with seed 2, generated with thicker walls and as a single shell to allow printing in bronze. 4-in-1 European Chain Mail modeled with the parametric Grasshopper plugin for Rhino 4. The rings have a diameter of 8.32mm, and are made of 1.62mm diameter wire, so you can print in polished Alumide (which looks incredible, by the way).

The term Ivory Tower originates in the Biblical Song of Solomon (7,4), and was later used as an epithet for Mary.

From the 19th century it has been, originally ironically, used to designate a world or atmosphere where intellectuals engage in pursuits that are disconnected from the practical concerns of everyday life. As such, it usually has a pejorative connotation, denoting a willful disconnect from the everyday world; esoteric, over-specialized, or even useless research; and academic elitism, if not outright condescension by those inhabiting the ivory tower. This is a visualization of malaria in over three seasons in communities in the district of Obuasi, Ghana. The vertical height of the tokens (above the minimum 3mm wall thickness)  show the population of a specific community, and their colour represents how the malaria changes over the three seasons.
Season 1 is mapped to Green
Season 2 is mapped to Blue
Season 3 is mapped to Red.
Communities that show up as primarily black or dark colours have minimal or no cases of malaria reported.
Communities that are very bright or white colours have high incidence of malaria reported over all three seasons.
Communities that are primarily green or teal in colour showed high malaria incidence in the early seasons, yet less malaria in the second or third seasons.
Any communities that show up  with a pinkish hue would have increasing incidences of malaria. Using this set of data, however, no communities appear to have this case.

The community tokens generally cover their respective communities either out to a 2km radius or to the nearest adjacent community (creating a voronoi map). They are not indicative of any actual geometry of the communities themselves.

This is created for ENGO 551, Special Topics in Geographic Information Systems, a Geomatics Engineering course at the University of Calgary
