Do I need to make 1 solid object in order to be able to have it printed?

Due to my not-so-great English language skills, I've made 2 renders to show what I mean.

Shaded: http://www.pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=19931
Wireframe: http://www.pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=19932

Note: The ring and the cube have been joined, so they are 1 object.

Please tell me if Shapeways can print this model, or if I have to edit and retopologise it so that the part of the ring that is inside the stretched cube, is removed.

Many thanks!
