Help with Rhino model

I have always used polygon modeling programs, and am now trying to figure out Rhino. It seems super powerful but all backwards with my background.

I attached a render of what I want my final product to look like, minus a clean top line, and a wireframe of my current strategy (strategy 7,289...). Mostly having problems with matching edge lines and not getting screwy final mesh in places. I am aware that curves need to be clean and have matching (or similar) points and that all lines should be connected, when possible.

Any advice would rule. Thanks!
