It's the British Lion Mark - applied to most shop bought eggs in the UK as a mark of quality and a guarantee against (amongst other things) Salmonella (yes I'm googling this... )

Unfortunately, no, he can't hold a spoon. The renders may suggest that, but the reality is that the glaze narrows what gap there is between his thumb and fingers.
