Normally, I'm pretty busy with my main shop and products, Mini3Ddrivers. [url=http://www.shapeways.com/shops/mini3ddrivers]</a>
However, i decided to have a look at the projects that were posted in designers wanted.

I've met this really nice guy who turned out to be having some trouble with bringing a design to life. Some other designers tried to work on it earlier, but to no avail. I happen to like a challenge, and it was a really cool project, so I took on the challenge!

The idea was to make two 3d-printed mini-cities with a logo incorporated in them.
His wish was to have it printed in FCS (full color sandstone).

The general design-idea had already been worked out. It was "just" a matter of making the models.
Everyone that is making 3d-models for printing knows that the most important thing is to work out what material you want to use for your design.
In this case, there were some features that were difficult to print in FCS. Small text being the main challenge. And it's full of small text.

Instead of turning the project down, I've spend a day or two thinking of ways to make it possible. It's important to know the rules of the material.
Fortunately, I have "some" experience with the material, so I knew how to tackle the problem.

The basic design is two have 2 cities of 24'' x 24'' (or as I prefer, 60,96 cm x 60,96 cm) connected by a bridge. Each city consists of 16 tiles of 6'' x 6'' (15,24 cm x 15,24 cm) They are connected by a system of hooks, so they stay in place. There has to be some clearance, because 3d-printing is not 100% accurate. Some materials are better than others, in terms of getting a correct size.

Another catch was the deadline. I had about 8 days to complete the models. Of-course, they also had to be printed and shipped on time!
Building a city in 3d, isn't that much work on itself, but to make it printable (and as cheap as possible) requires some extra care.
If i just had made solid objects, it would have been done sooner. But also a lot more expensive! Now we've managed to keep the whole project around 3K including VAT. If it had been solid, it would easily have been over 5K!

The whole project is build using three programs. Illustrator for the graphics, and Sketchup and Blender 3d for the modelling.
Why two different 3d-programs?! Because they have their own advantages. Sketchup happens to be perfect for modelling buildings.
I've made a lot of 3d-models for Google Earth in the past. Blender is perfect for rendering, manifold checking and exporting all kinds of files.
Also, Sketchup is slightly easier and faster to use for simple UV-texturing. A big difference between the two is the way to approach a build.
Sketchup is easy to use. You can draw a square with a pen-tool. Length can be inserted while drawing the line.
Blender has more like a sculpting-approach. You start with a shape, and model it from there. Of-course, you can also draw lines and stuff, but not as easy as you can when using Sketchup. I just combined the best features that I needed! It's a workflow I have developed over the years. For me, it works fine!

The picture on top is rendered in Blender. The models are being printed as I'm typing this post. You can expect an update with pictures of the real thing in about two to three weeks! I hope there won't be any delays or problems during the printing. Those FCS-printers have a mind of their own, haha!
In the mean time, I will post some updates and pictures with some inside looks of the model!

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to respond.
If you're looking for help with a design for printing, you can always contact me!
mini3ddrivers@gmail.com or 3dprintsbyalex@gmail.com

I've just started my second shop for more general designs as well, called 3dprintsbyalex]
You can also see the parts for the cities there!

Modelling is fun and challenging! I will be hooked to 3d-printing for the rest of my life! :D

kind regards,
Alex

Hi i am looking for a rush job for a design of two cities based on two logos since the artist that was working with me somehow managed to disappear with my initial payment.

budget for 3d rendered design only 300-500usd (paying upfront is not a problem)
time frame for design: ASAP if you can finish it within today that is great 1-3 days would be acceptable.
feel free to give me a rough estimate of how much printing this would cost and how long.
i was initially quoted for every full color 6x6" city segment it would be around 65$.

these are the two companies that will need to be rendered in 3d extruded letter buildings that will follow the color of the logo underneath it. surrounded by assorted structures that will be lower than the main logo just to fill up the space.

index.php?t=getfile&id=109134&private=0

index.php?t=getfile&id=109135&private=0

we have a bridge connecting the two cities which will be printed separately so that it will only be put in between the two cities to show their connection to each other.

index.php?t=getfile&id=109128&private=0

index.php?t=getfile&id=109127&private=0

index.php?t=getfile&id=109133&private=0

size of building:
24 x 24 inches

* problem on printing constraint

we can segment them into 6" segments forming 1 city, if you can design them to click into place that would be even better

thickness of floor / base:
up to you but maybe something between 1-3 mm?
i am open to suggestions

material:
full color plastic.

the names of the scholars will be provided to you in excel format

you may reach me via skype or my email

skype: marwyn.ng
email: marwyn_ng@yahoo.com

let me know if you have any questions and suggestions i need this to be done asap

these items after printing would still need to be shipped to the clark international airport in the philippines.

Hello!

I'm looking for someone to make a 3d replica of a farm. I have aerial and regular photographs, and could probably get some general measurements. I'd like to make a full display, so they would need to be in line with some farm 'toy' scaling. I am not looking for anything too crazy or too expensive. Please e-mail me @ cmarshall821 at gmail.com. Thanks so much!!

Hey! I am new to the team but I have been modeling for some years now. I can model a good array of things. Whatever you need done, shoot me a message or something and we will work it out! I am willing to dedicate as much time as needed towards your work. I will usually start start right after you send me the info. Thank you for your time and I look forward to working with you all!

My modeling background comes from Game design in college. I hope to put it to use for more than just games though!

The file is an older model from a couple years back. I lost all of my other work when my hard drive broke.

(I once worked on this team but took a break a while back. I made some jewelry for people back then.)

3D printing, 3D scanning and other rapid manufacturing methods have been hot topics for a few years, but unfortunately getting the full advantage of these technologies requires 3D modeling skills which it takes time to learn. This shop is created to support all people that are interested in getting their own design into a real product or would just like to fix a broken product with a new spare part and need a model for that.

How it works?
This works in a very simple way - there are only few steps:

1. First you order a free cost estimate on your project/idea

2. After our estimate you will get a link to the design product that fits your needs (pricing starting typically from 10€ and options based on your project's needs)

3. We will create the design for you and you can comment it and ask for adjustments to the design if needed

4. After your acceptance the design is ready and you can order it from Shapeways

So simple - just browse through our site and ask for a free cost estimate!

Hello!

I am a 25 year old multi disciplinary self employed professional that is looking for an extra source of income. I have 4 years experience 3D modelling (2 years experience with Shapeways) and 2 years experience being a texture artist/designer - That 2 years experience with Shapeways comes with knowledge of tensile strength, structural integrity and knowledge of what can and cannot be created.

I have done jewellery (my main focus), game models, gadgets, phone cases, trinkets and more.

I will not refuse any design, no matter how big/small - as long as it fits within the Shapeways rules for that material I will do it.

I work very closely with my clients be that prototyping, final product or a one off.

I am free to communicate via Skype or any other voip program of your choosing to make your ideas become a reality.

As mentioned in the title my pricing is reasonable and competitive - it doesn't hurt to ask!

Examples can be given upon request.

Thanks for reading!

Hi,

I have designed a few HO scale model railroad cars. They are in pieces (kit format if you will).

I need help merging the kit parts into a single whole part.

I use TurboCad 1.1 (old DOS based CAD) to make several 2D views. I export to DXF and use emachineshop software to turn the 2D views into 3D parts. Emachineshop is propriatary for milling out parts from solid blocks of material (usually metal). I use emachineshop to export to STL.

I have a model "kit" of parts that I would like reduce the number of parts. I am trying to learn FreeCAD but am very early in the learning process. I would like assistance to combine a few parts that I have successfully 3D printed into a singl STL file.

I have "kit instructions" (PDF) to assemble the parts with lots pictures.

The first combines a model railroad flat car underframe (part A) and a model railroad underframe (part B) into a single piece.

I could use some help. Money is an issue but I need to get the item into production at a reasonable price to help increase cash flow.

The first is to combine "HOn3 1871 17' 2mm FRM124" and "HOn3 HOn30 1871 17' body FLAT121a". at my store "Glover Loco Works - designs by hendrikvv".

If you can help please contact me.

Thanks.

!. The first part is a vent that will sit in the 4x10 inch dash radio speaker grill opening. Want it to look oem matching the dash and the overall
look of the porsche.
2. The second part is the part that will branch off from the exiting HVAC duct. It should have a flap valve or some mechanism to divert the existing
air flow into the the part 1 vent.
3. The concept is to re route some of the cold air from the existing air conditioning system up to the top of the dashboard where the speaker grill sits.the speaker is not needed and will be removed. It will be replaced by the part #1. This will vent cold air at head level toward the driver.

Hello everyone!

I kinda have a few models that needs posing and I dont know jack about riggin and stuff so I wanted someone to make it as cheaply as posible.

Description of the models. Two would be the same model just changing the pose and weapons.

In the rar you can find the armor parts and two weapons. If opened in blender the armor gets its right positions dunno if it will happen in other software. One should have the greatsword and the other one two Dark Claws (that weapon needs to be made a bit smaller) and they just need dynamic fighter poses.

The other two models would be the two monsters in the rar, just in menacing poses, searching their names in google gives images of them.

For the moment I just want to know prices so post here or PM me.

Cheers,

Karlos.

So I had someone make up a ring for me using ZBRUSH. What I have is an .STL file, and am looking for some help. There are quite a bit of raised details from the main body of the ring, what I need is for those to be raised even higher. When I asked him to do the ring I forgot to mention that the details have to be raised a bit more to account for polishing once the model is casted. Let me know if anyone can help! I'll attach a picture of the ring! I can pay someone to raise these, I just need this project done!

Experienced CAD developer needed to build jewelry from sketches (that we already have) into final design and give shape in digital form.

Steps would go as in follow;
Modeling, texturing/lightening and shading to give Photo Real rendering and make more angels of the jewelry for better viewing.

Interested please contact us at autocadinsta@gmail.com and include your past work.
Thank you

I wanted to offer some feedback. I just completed a transaction with designer "ming" and was really pleased with the the result. I'm sure there are many great designers out there but need to say the job was perfect and done very quickly. Highly recommend.

Hi All.

About me:

My name is Anthony.

I'm located in Cambridge, U.K. I'm an aspiring artist and designer, with a great deal of experience in jewellery manufacture and design. I spent two years studying at Holts Academy in London, learning the manufacturing process of Jewellery, from measuring, milling, sheet metal piercing, soldering, setting, wax carving and 3D modelling (most of which was self taught).

Because of my formal training, I can offer a lot more than just 3D models. I can make your jewellery dreams become a reality.

I have a very visual mind, so can easily imagine a piece in three dimensional shapes. Having previous experience working with physical materials allows for a sense of what the piece will look and feel like when it is finished too.

Qualifications: Holts Academy Jewellery manufacture level 2/3 Diploma.

Experience: Two years hand manufacturing in the workshop and lots and lots of work in Rhinoceros.

Portfolio: index.php?t=getfile&id=92962&private=0index.php?t=getfile&id=92961&private=0index.php?t=getfile&id=92960&private=0index.php?t=getfile&id=92959&private=0index.php?t=getfile&id=93641&private=0

Other work can be seen here: https://www.shapeways.com/designer/jewelleranto here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.536899143059413.10 73741827.536885976394063&type=3 and here: http://www.anthonyharrisjewellery.co.uk

Rate: This is highly dependant on the amount of work expected of me and the cost of any materials I need to buy. I would need half of any given quote up front in order to begin work.

Thanks

I am just putting it out there that if you need a part or product designed please contact me and share with me your ideas and I may be able to assist you in making your ideas come to life.

My background is in mechanical engineering (building light aircraft and cnc router and laser machines) as well as furniture design and manufacture and use Solidworks as my software of choice. I am skilled at designing parts are that are dimensionally controlled so I couldn't help you in small figurines etc as I prefer to leave that to the sculpting experts.

Where I could be beneficial to you is that I understand many forms of manufacturing so if the part you want designed is not specifically for 3D printing as the end product but via other forms of manufacturing I can design the product to suit the strongest but most affordable manufacturing method. Many people can do a awesome design but sometimes a relatively simple design is designed in a complex way the manufacturing process for that simple part could be very expensive if you opt to manufacture another way other than 3D printing. Alternatively if you require a product to be designed purely for 3D print manufacturing I can assist there with many successful products and jobs completed.

Design process.
- I tend to give you a quote for a design based on the information provided to me, sometimes it is fixed and if I go over that it is your bonus and other times a general quote with the allowance of an hourly rate over the quote for those tricky jobs.
- I do a test print to ensure the part is functional.
- during the process I send you a edrawing file or 2 which is a 3d viewable file that you can rotate, check dimensions, pull apart and even section so you can check the design as we go. edrawing viewer is a free program provided by solidworks so the files work well and you can also check the total weight and look of the design - so much better than a few screen shots.
- on approval you make the agreed payment and I then issue the solidworks and STL file for you to make one or many parts from - as you become the file / product owner.

I pride myself in being honest & open and want to include you in the whole process.
