I need help designing a toy size podcar, or Personal Rapid Transit, also called PRT, system.
Originally I wanted the system to have robots and buttons that would make the toy actually move and work like a podcar system. But when I learned more on how that would need to happen I gave up on that idea and now I just want something that the kid pushes around. Like a toy train set that doesn't move on its own. An extremely simple design on the cars is fine.
The cars need to have wheels that turn and doors that open. The wheels/tires assembly can be of the same material or something different. I just need the car to move. I would like the door or doors to be slide to open, like a sliding glass door. Open to ideas on the door but I don't want it to open like a traditional car. Something more futuristic. The size would be about the size of a hot wheels car or a little bigger. The interior needs to have a seat, sort of like what they have on this:
http://www.ultraglobalprt.com/how-it-works/vehicle-features- customisation/
Just a sort of ledge on each side to serve as the seats would be fine. Maybe a total of three colors on the car, including the transparent "window" parts.
Then I need miniature people that can fit about four to a car. I would like for the people to be able to sit and stand, so they can "sit" in the cars. The people can be very simple otherwise. Something like the simplest type of fisher price little people or even simpler. I found a site with a bunch of simple figurines but I'm having trouble finding it again. Then I need a way for the people to attach to the seats in the cars. But I don't want to do a fisher price style of cutting a hole in the feet. Open to ideas but I want to do something else. I'm thinking of a Velcro attachment. It's okay if you don't have an idea on how to attach the people to the car. I'll figure that part out later.
I think I want to get that much done first and then figure out the guideway and stations. Since most actual PRT systems advertise that they can be elevated so as to not interfere with existing traffic, eventually I think I want an elevated guideway and custom track parts so the kid can build a PRT system right on top of an existing train or car set. But I would be really happy with just the car and people for a while. So I guess just keep in mind that the cars will need to work on a guideway, but don't worry about the guideway yet.
You can see a lot of examples if you search for "personal rapid transit" in google images. There's lots of pictures on this website http://www.ultraglobalprt.com/

About me: Hi there, I'm not exactly used to dealing with business in this fashion, but I know what I am doing and all of my work turns out fairly good, you can check out my shapeways shop to see for yourself. Because I'm new to this, I don't have that large of a portfolio, and every job will be reasonably priced based on how much it would cost from shapeways, as well as the difficulty of the product. Email me at corbyngarland@gmail.com or PM me on here if you would like to contact me about a job.

Hi Everyone,
I thought I would show you all the step by step process of getting a character modelled by INNER LEAF by showing you a case study of a recent project we did. This character is a tiny 28mm tall. To give you an idea, the face is only 3mm tall so its really quite amazing how much detail we can achieve with this material and of course with our model painters.

Step 1: Artwork
We receive some sketches or images of a character.

index.php?t=getfile&id=55823&private=0

Step 2: Pose
We then look at creating a pose for that character and then produce some 3D renders for you to review

index.php?t=getfile&id=55824&private=0
index.php?t=getfile&id=55826&private=0

Step 3: Printing
The most popular material for character painting is FUD which looks like this when printed (really difficult to photograph as its like ice)

index.php?t=getfile&id=55827&private=0

Step 4: Painting
We can then paint the models for you if requested and you end up with a fantastic model like this:

index.php?t=getfile&id=55828&private=0

Hope you like our models and please get in touch if we can help with your character model projects.

Hey everyone, I'm 15, live in Colorado and my passion is design and development. You may think I'd be inexperienced or lacking in skill but I assure you I'm not. I have been designing things using an array of CAD Programs since I was 9 and I have recently purchased my own 3D printer so I can test out prototypes. Whatever you can dream up I can design and make it a reality. Contact me for more details, I charge not by the hour but by the project. It depends on the complexity and size of the project. Also jewelry is not my strong-suit and I have found that it doesn't print very well either. It usually ends up breaking unless its metal.

I am a mechanical engineer with over 15 years experience in product development and over 10 years experience working with Solidworks. I have expert working knowledge of all standard design and manufacturing processes and I can develop any concept into a functioning part or device and provide ready for prototype / manufacture designs in any required format, including 3D files for prototype or manufacture as well as detailed 2D drawings with all required specifications.

I have designed products in almost every conceivable field; consumer products, medical devices, laboratory equipment, sporting goods and military grade hardware. I work closely with several other engineers as needed who can provide electrical engineering services, CNC milling, tool fabrication and any other specific requirement that your project my need. We work as contract engineers with little to no overhead and we carry the savings over to our clients.

For those clients that are out of state I use www.teamviewer.com to provide access to view my system as I work on the project allowing for direct interaction with the client, helping to insure that the result is exactly what was expected. I also provide 3D files in EPRT format which allows my clients the ability to view the files at various stages in 3D using free software available from www.edrawingsviewer.com. The client always comes first and getting the desired results is priority one. The systems listed above provide an excellent means of achieving that goal.

Feel free to contact me directly with any questions. I am always happy to assist or advise even if we do not end up working together. References, NDA and portfolio are available upon request.

I currently help many people in the Denver CO area with 3D modeling for product design and 3D printing output.

I would like to offer my services on ShapeWays for those who need it.

I currently have an example of my modeling on my designer page -
http://shpws.me/qzWJ

It's a historical reconstruction of a 1927 CAT 20 tractor which was a paying modeling job for a local client.

Resume on Linkedin
http://www.linkedin.com/pub/tommy-von/1b/190/264

3D page on FaceBook
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Polygonz-3D-printing-CAD-serv ices/677043565659854

I typically bill between $15-$20 an hour for modeling, and can provide an accurate estimate for the time I will take.
I prefer to transact through PayPal or Square.

Hi,

I have these 2 plastic parts broken and there are no replacement for them new.
Would any one be interested in reproduce them? Roughly, how much would it cost to design and print these two parts?
Would it be cheaper to make moulds for them and use epoxy or other poring resin?

Best Regards

All these crazy overpriced designers! Sheesh! Good thing I'm here.
I would love to design anything for around 10 dollars!!!
All simple things, especially characters, will be priced at lower than $8. Complicated objects will be $10 and up, and varying on the time spent on it I will add a certain amount per hour. Added $2 per moving part (Moving as in interlocked mechanically, not just linked or separate parts)

I am most skilled at designing prints for Nylon, and can create almost any small character or figurine. I also have some skills in texturing (color printing) and have made some very cute creatures for color. if you want something functional, I am not the best man for the job, as the most functional things I have made are a collection of marble runs and some cups for ceramics. But anything decorative, and I am your guy!

Happy printing!

I am an amateur 3D modeler and will be attending the Living Arts College in Raleigh, NC next year for 3D Animation. At this time I can do simple designs and if you would something done that you have a sketch of I may be able to help, standard fee is 20 dollars a model and you will not be required to pay until you have the model you want.

Send me a sketch or drawing and I will do my best to turn it into a 3D printable model. I will send you screen shots of the model when I feel it meets the prescribed standards that you have given me and when you are satisfied with it I will send it to you.

For examples of my work you can check out the models I have done that I intend on using for a board game in the future at my Shapeways shop here: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/facehatergames

Please make this image come to life! The graphic is ready for you to design into a 3D figurine. Please email me with a available sizes, cost, and time frame at ericsolis6680@hotmail.com.
Thank you,
Eric Solis

P.S. The image is outlined in black but the outside of the actual 3D figurine will not be outlined in black of course. Only anything away from the outside like the eyes, squiggly lines on the ears, the trim on the dress, etc.
