I always wanted to create a bicycle model in HO scale. There wasn't any scale model of the old Swiss military bike.
Most of the bikes available at this scale are etched out of a thin sheet of brass and have to be folded in shape. They are quite difficult to build. The 3D printed model only has to be painted, since the "assembling" already happened in the printer !
This model was quite tricky to create, because I had to thicken a lot of features while keeping the resulting model recognizable.

Hi Shapeways fans,

Dumbbell Skewb are two Skewbs (Holey Skewbs, actually), connected by gears. The mechanism is similar to Dumbbell Cube, and it is also a challenge for intellectual weightlifters.

Watch the Youtube video.

After playing around with the (Cage Edit Tool in Rhino), I was able to morph the straignt lines to create some ripples. What started as a simple opening, resulted in the 3D optical illusion. This feature is the only modified aspect of this phone case, while the rest of the architecture remains the same as the one of my earlier cases. Such designs offers a perfect fit for your phone, which I have tested for several months.

Hey shapies,

I just wanted to submit a lovely design by a friend of mine which I received printed in Gold Plated Glossy some time ago. It is absolutely worth mentioning (and purchasing) because of its ability to captivate everybody who holds it.
(Or even sees it? Your reaction will be the answer. )

I don't know if you are still looking for mathematical art? This would definitely belong to this section as it wasn't created with a usual modeling application.

The photograph attached was done by me as I was so enthusiastic about the design that turned out great in Gold Plated Glossy. Unfortunately my friend didn't find the time to upload the photographs, but that has no impact on the design's beauty Smile
Do you also recognise rings, pentagons, stars, flowers, Adobe signs... that captivate you?

index.php?t=getfile&id=18927&private=0
diameter of around 5cm = 2in.

I would be delighted if it was featured.
"Orb Of Life" by 3D-Schmuck can be found here: http://shpws.me/6j37

Greetings,
Marie

After successfully printing a Konoid I realized I just tapped into a very interesting new (for me) area of extremely simple and amazing mechanisms.

One can argue that a mechanism must have at least two parts, and a roller by definition has just one - itself.

Nevertheless, there is a second part to the whole picture - the surface it's rolling on.

And the idea is to always keep the center of gravity at the same distance from the surface no matter what position the roller is.

Sphericon is the best theoretical source for these rollers, so I decided to pay it a tribute and produce a 'see through' version of it.

This is how OctoRoller Classic came to life:
http://images1.sw-cdn.net/model/picture/674x501_617462_503575_1343141577.jpg
This picture is a cross-eye stereopair.

It printed well in polished bronze.

It rolls great and produces the AWE effect very well.
YouTube Movie

I am sure it'll look and roll great in other materials.

I made it available in five sizes - Check out my shop, GeoMachine

Get one and get amazed!

Hello. This is my first object I have ever made for 3d printing. I would love to get it featured. It's a silver pendant with a raccoon sculpture hanging onto a ring.

I made this as a valentines gift for my girlfriend. I choose a raccoon for sentimental reasons, and I have made many different attempts at getting the right shape before settling on this one. I didn't initially want to make a realistic sculpture out of fear that it would look kitsch, but I think it turned out great in the end.

Link to the product page.

I really hope you guys like my model.

Here are the rings of the series "The 4 elements". The idea of giving shape to the 4 basic elements of all matter had long been in my mind. First I thought to a common shape, and then I gave them their own personalities. I was always fascinated by their meaning:

Fire : passion, energy, impulse inspiration, idealism, faith
Air : mental processes, intellect, human communication and social relationships
Water : Emotion, psychism, mysticism, intuition
Earth : practicality, stability, materialism, realism

Would love to get this featured...

This is what happens when you sit down in front of ZBrush and just start playing. Basically, I had no preconceived notion of creating anything and this just popped out. Had to get it printed and also experimented with costing as a solid and hollowed out model. And for anyone who doesn't know when printing in ceramic it definitely pays to keep the model solid.

Hi,
Here is my second object printed by Shapeways, an iPhone case that looks like the front of a Mac Pro computer.
I had to print several models before reaching a good result, but now I'm pretty happy with this one.
This model was printed in WSF polished, fine details are well rendered, no hole is blocked as you can see on these pictures. Of course all the buttons and ports are easily accessible, and there is no need to remove the case to plug the connector.

I hope you'll like it, you can find it here in my shop

This is a real success story of a Shapie advertising on the Shapeways Forum for a 3D Modeller and achieving a fantastic result that has inspired the media and other designers alike. Janina Alleyne is a very talented Fashion Design Student at De Montfort University in the UK. After advertising on Shapeways for a Shoe Modeller, INNER | LEAF were delighted to win the commission to model one of her designs. So impressed with the first model, Janina commissioned INNER | LEAF to do her entire range which included 3 shoes and a Hat. We think she is a fantastic designer but don't take our word for it, check out some of the reviews her Collection has received including the online magazine 'The Upcoming' http://www.theupcoming.co.uk/2012/06/14/graduate-fashion-wee k-2012/

We would like to wish Janina all the best for the next step in her Career and thank her for choosing INNER | LEAF. I hope this is something that Shapeways would like to feature on their website.

I work here
This is your chance to get noticed, or to give other designers some attention for awesome 3D printed items. Here are some things to consider when posting here. These are all optional (except number 1), but will make your item easier to feature. Remember this section is to share why your item should be featured. Of course your item is cool! You designed it, modeled it, fixed it, modified it, made it perfect! But what makes it special is the story of how it came into existence. A picture is great, but doesn't tell us the importance of the item.

1) To be featured the item MUST have been produced. We don't want to feature something, then find out it's not possible to produce. So have a picture of the final product and let us know what material it's printed in.
2) Include a link to the items page, and any links to the shop from which the item is available, website (relevant to the items Shapeways Shop and or item), and any other links.
3) Tell us the story! What makes the item special? Why should it be featured? If you are the designer, where'd the idea come from? If you're not the designer, how'd you find the item? What do you like about it?
4) Your experience with designing and ordering the item. We always love a pat on the back, but we also want to know what we could have done to make things easier.
5) Any credits. Who helped you the most? Did you use someone else's model as a base file? Did you find a particular post that helped you get your creation made?

We check this section to find designs to feature on Friday Finds, on the blog, our weekly 'Designer Spotlight' post, and to give to press. So please do show us what you are making! Your designs are what makes Shapeways an exciting place and we love to spread the excitement!

If you have any questions about any of these feel free to email Community Manager Natalia Krasnodebska or myself Mike

NEW FEATURE! The new @mentions are a quick way to alert us to a cool new product you want us to feature. Try @elisarichardson and tell her why we should feature your product on Friday Finds!

Polyhedral Sculpture #26 - Pendant
http://shpws.me/8CnM
Shows the duality between Dodecahedron and Icosahedron.

Based upon knowledge I accumulated during the 1980's while exploring hands-on "the extraordinary spatial diversity that emanates from the sublime order and elegant simplicity that is exemplified by the subject of polyhedra." (Quote from the Preface to the wonderful book POLYHEDRA PRIMER by Peter Pearce and Susan Pearce)

Hi, I recently designed a robot hand that is printed in one piece. All the hinges and printed in place, so that there is no need for assembly for the underlying hand. Tendons need to be added later, but there are no screws or any other fasteners required.
http://anthromod.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMG_0285.jpg

Here it is painted up, with some tendons attached.
http://anthromod.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMG_0312.jpg

My development blog is here

I also just had it mentioned on boingboing

Right now I'm working on adding servos and hope to have a video out soon. I also plan to start an indiegogo campaign to help fund the Mk3. Mk2 hands will be part of the rewards I have in mind.

A pirate chest recently washed ashore containing a never-before-seen hand carved puzzle. The carvings on the chest indicate that the puzzle is a 3D maze map through the caves on Dragon Fang's island where the vast treasure from the pirate ship Black Lion is hidden. You open the chest only to find that the main body of the maze looks eaten away to the "Bare Bones." Luckily, there is a clear case in the chest as well, and a small brightly colored ball that will help guide you. The ball fits into the maze at the round mouth of the cave maze in the corner of the cube. The maze then slides into the clear case; it is a perfect fit. You shove the sturdy case with its precious map into your pocket. The question is, can you solve the mystery of this maze and find the treasure? The carvings on the chest show that your goal is shown as another round ring with the remains of an "X" along its border.

To get there, roll the ball along the bones of the maze to try to reach the treasure. Your ball can travel up, down, fore and aft, port (left) and starboard (right) to travel through the maze. The clear walls allow you to easily see exactly where you are in the maze, and which directions can be tried next, but getting there is harder than it looks. Argggh, there have been plenty of "Bones" cleverly placed along the tunnels to trip up any unwary pirates and keep them from reaching the treasure. These can lead you astray or plunge you into a deep pit.

The "X Marks the Spot" where your treasure is found. If you reach the treasure you are not done yet matey! You have to return safely back to the mouth of the cave. Be wary though, there are new perils on the way back, and many pirates have never found their way back out. The true brave of heart can enter again to see if they can find the treasure again, this time, faster!

Good Luck Maties!

The 3D maze fits snuggly inside the 2 inch by 2 inch by 2 inch clear plastic cube. The clear cube also serves as a display quality case for this clever pirate work of art. This clear plastic display cube is sold separately, and is available for around $3. Use the link below to purchase "Bare Bones" from my Shapeways shop page. You will find more photos, video and information on this puzzle. There you will also find a link to purchase the case with free shipping. Note that this plastic cube display case is part of this rolling ball 3d maze puzzle and is required for the proper working of the maze.

http://shpws.me/75ht

Start by setting one of the "U" shaped halves of the clear case on a table with the sides of the "U" facing up. Before putting the "Bare Bones" maze in the case, orient it so the circular mouth of the cave (the one in the corner) is on the bottom. Place the ball on the bottom of the "U" of the case, such that when you next slide "Bare Bones" down into the case half, the circular mouth of the maze goes over the ball. Next carefully slide the top half of the case on. The photos and video above illustrate how this is done. You are now ready to start solving this maze puzzle.
Many a pirate has been lost in the cave, but have no fear - you can slide open the two halves of the case and the ball can easily be shaken out to start solving the maze game over again.

The clear case is very sturdy, so you can carry this maze puzzle around in your pocket or your bag. When not being played, this unique new type of maze can be displayed as a fascinating work of art. Set it on your desk or shelf, everyone will be curious to know what it is and want to give it a try.

This new type of maze is my most challenging one yet. It is bigger than "Escher's Playground" and you can see the interior much easier. This new maze design uses thicker and stiffer rods for the maze. They are also rounded off so the maze structure looks like a skeletal matrix of linked up bones.

Please post any questions or comments you have on "Bare Bones". Enjoy.

This vase was designed for my hardworking mother.

She loves her garden, but spends most of her time behind a desk helping other people's lives improve. I love her dearly and this was my small way of showing my appreciation.

Finally, the 3D prints have arrived...
see for yourself here on the forum.

If I may ask, that Shapeways would feature it. This would really help my campaign, as it really needs some attention.

Games Homepage

Edit :
Youtube Video

Codename : STARSHOOTER campaign

I'm prepared to offer 8 different painted / unpainted ship designs 3D printed by Shapeways.com to contributors of the campaign, but I need some help with this. As I don't have enough power to push it to the front pages, because I'm INDIE developer&designer and this is my first personal game project.

If you're interested, you can find some informations on the IndieGOGO or Taurris. But I'll be happy to reply to any questions on this matter.

Hello Shapies,

I just received this piece and I am very pleased with the outcome, especially the hand-made look. One can use it as a cup, shot glass or even as a candle holder

Hello!

I recently received final samples of the new Squeeze Cuff and here it is customised with the flower charm, Lucy.

index.php?t=getfile&id=16095&private=0

It's designed to be compatible with all of the charms in the collection, simply squeeze the sides together and pop in a charm, you can customise to your hearts content.

The Squeeze Cuff is available here, there are more images on the shop page to show the possibilities .

There's also a matching Squeeze Ring.

I hope you like them, let me know what you think, thanks,

Mark.
