Hey there.
Just got my first 3d print through the door today.
Really exiting stuff !

I work in the animation industry for a living, so it's awesome to use some of your skills in other ways like this.

The Victorian Railways NQR wagon in G scale (1:19) by "JEEVI" test printed successfully. It is absolutely superb with all the rivet detail you could want.
A coat of paint, some Fox bogies (Cambrian Models), RCBOYS 1/8"x 1/4"x 7/3" flanged ball bearings, 24.5mm Sierra valley wheels and Accucraft couplers (AP11-738) and it will be rolling!
A train of these with the other JEEVI cars of NM and NU will be looking very protypical. NC brake van from Steam and Things of course.
I just hope that Argyle Locomotive Works are getting their NA locomotives ready!

I designed a steampunk-styled fish using Blender and the 3D sandstone print just arrived from Shapeways. Somehow, I messed up the colors so some of the parts came out white. But I'm very impressed with the detail of the 3D print, especially the propellor.

Hi Shapeways fans,
Spider Gear was suggested by Bram Cohen and named by José. A ball with holes is contained by a cage and six pointy gears. When the ball is turned then the gears follow. Both the ball and the gears are bi-colored. The object of the puzzle is to turn the ball such that it ends up upside down, while the gears are returned to their original position.

They arrived in good health, though they only have one side and one edge. (Sounds like a geometric amputee.) One is in White Strong Flexible, one in polished White Strong Flexible, and one in White Detail.
The boss was impressed enough to commission the printing of a technical model for sales & marketing of one of our industrial products.
Yay, Shapeways!

Hey All,
Here are a couple of designs I created to add your own flair to a Phiten necklace. This simple design has a charm ring and clips that connect between the Phiten clips.
The first is a straight forward design with clips straight across from one another. The second is an angled designed and can be doubled up to create a dual, charm design effect.

Way much better than those old fashioned ones! Already received much compliments, lots of friens noticed it and want one for themselves!
I am not sure how to promote this model to the target group though.
Please tell me what you think of it and if you know any places to promote this model!

Hi Guy's,
I'm super excited about this "Aventador" inspired Raspberry Pi case. It was great fun to design and I hope everyone likes it as much as we do! It is only 1 piece but requires the newer Pi motherboard with the two locating holes. It features a wall mount slot and can be stacked!

Hey Everyone,
The Car Antenna Snitch has taken flight.
After a few weeks my antenna snitch prototype is still hanging in strong and working perfectly. It has endured hot weather, windy weather, hard rain and has performed through it all.
In the video link below you will see the snitch start to rise up the antenna at about 35 MPH and then shoot to the top at about 50-55 MPH where it hangs on.

| Irreversible Cube by OSKAR [message #66508] Sat, 20 April 2013 11:18 UTC |

Hi Shapeways fans,
Irreversible Cube is based on an idea by Christoph Lohe:
"It is just a 2x2x2 Cube, however, with the following constrains:
- only clockwise quarter turns are allowed
- after a turn on one axis (out of three), the next move, if any, will need to be done on another axis
Obviously, it is not a normal twisty puzzle as you cannot simply reverse your move sequence. It also means: the puzzle is already scrambled after a first single move from the solved state."
So if we encode
"U" = upper face 90 degrees clockwise
"F" = front face 90 degrees clockwise
"L" = left face 90 degrees clockwise
then one could legally turn e.g. "UFLUFLULUFLUFLUL" as all turns are clockwise and there are no two-same-turns-in-a-row. However, "FF" would be illegal and the second "F" move should be blocked.
Irreversible Cube exactly achieves Chris Lohe's goal. There are only single clockwise quarter turns, and any second quarter turn is blocked, only to be unlocked when another face is turned 90-degrees clockwise.
Note that the puzzle has no easy undos. Once a quarter turn clockwise has been made, one cannot undo it by turning anti-clockwise. Anti-clockwise turns are blocked by the mechanism.
Analysing the mechanism, the follow steps happen when turning a face clockwise.
1) First the turning face locks itself against turning back to it original position. From this point, one can only move forward.
2) Next the turning face unlocks the previously locked adjacent face.
3) Then, the turning face locks itself against turning back to the adjacent-faces-unlocking state.
4) Finally, the turning face blocks. Now it can only be unlocked by turning an adjacent face.

| My first print - a puzzle ring [message #66503] Sat, 20 April 2013 08:05 UTC |

The ring:

With gold rub'n'buff applied:

Some back-story:
My ongoing fascination with Celtic knots has often made me think about the physical realities of knot patterns. I've previously explored making knots out of clay, and tying Chinese knots to explore this idea.
When I was little, my big sister brought home some Turkish puzzle rings. They were pretty and confounding. I never really got the hang of how to solve them! But when I found Shapeways, I knew i wanted to have a go at making my own puzzle rings.
My first attempt at the idea was a perfect intertwining of over-and-under loops.

My rusty 3D modeling skills meant that progress was slow... so it came with a slow and crushing realisation that this design wouldn't come apart and function as a puzzle ring in the way I'd imagined.
The next step was to do some research into how puzzle rings are constructed and how they're solved. I learned that unlike Celtic knots, puzzle rings don't follow a convention in the way that the loops alternate over- and under-lapping. One loop may go over two other loops before passing under the next.
Armed with this knowledge, I modeled the next version of the puzzle ring.

And then came the problem of unraveling these interlocked pieces to ensure that they would print properly. I tried very hard to follow how the loops would remain loooped through each other when jiggled loose. Here's what I submitted to Shapeways for printing:

A few weeks later, they arrived! I got the scissors and glue out, expecting that I'd be too incompetent to solve the rings the normal way. I also suspected that I'd gotten the loops wrong (I had). As it turns out, once the loops are correctly hooked through one another, it's not too hard to solve the ring. The white S&F was a little bit too flimsy, but the black worked quite well, and I'm hoping to do some metal prints next.

Thanks for reading about my little project! I'm working on some other Celtic-knot inspired jewellery as well (including less confusing rings), so I hope to be able to share those with you soon.

Hi everybody !
I received my model of the iconic skateboard from the 70´s (Penny or plastic Board) a couple of weeks ago.
I am using it as keyring and it looks great. The details are really good for a 6,5 cm model.
Next step is silver

I hope to paint them orange soon and get the inside of the bands polished, since they were not.

I added small knobs on the edges to help with spinning the knob and it worked perfect. (Knobs shown on my 1982 custom, Lotus guitar)
Just pop off your old knobs and add a baseball look to your guitar. (More designs to come)

Wanna play disc golf but your stuck in a cubicle all day? Check out this mini disc golf basket for use in a cubicle.
I designed this Disc Golf Basket to attach to the walls of a office cubicle. I first created this just as a fun design for my love of disc golf but later decided to make it useful. There are hooks at the top to hold paper clips which also makes it look like the chains on a disc golf basket.
I also created a small disc golf disc if you want to try your hand at a game of mini disc golf.
