I work here
I went to make cupcakes last night. But I didn't have any eggs :'( So instead I melted some chocolate, and made a chocolate cup.

So if you're wondering if porcelain can be frozen with molten chocolate in it, the answer is yes. Hopefully I get eggs soon to test it in the oven.

I am very excited that my first two pairs of cufflinks have arrived.

The first is based on a motif of the city of Milan and involved quite a bit of fiddling around with the design, particularly to get the finer areas acceptable to print. I am quite happy with the design, but might also do a larger, bolder version.
index.php?t=getfile&id=86475&private=0

Check it out in my store here:
https://www.shapeways.com/product/UZPYR75HS/milano-biscione- cufflinks

The second is a compass design, as below. I am really happy with how this turned out - I am actually wearing them today!
index.php?t=getfile&id=86477&private=0

Check it out in my store here:
https://www.shapeways.com/product/SEUTPSH35/compass-cufflink s

The only thing I will update on other cufflinks is to make the 'stalk' and the 'stopper' bit a little larger. That said, they work really well and look great.

EmojiMemes are here! What do you think? All the models are in Beta now to get feedback from the community as we develop our app. Right now, I'm producing each order individually, but this is temporary. When our app is complete it will allow you to easily create your own emojimeme by: 1. Choosing an emoji for one side of the emojimeme 2. Uploading your photo for the other side 3. Extruding the facial features on your photo to make your very own 3D printed caricature!

I got my prototype of my 8th Doctor's sonic screwdriver model kit today and had a chance to clean it up and put it together, showing the implementation of an existing electronics core unit to get light and sound using the functional trigger on the outside of the main shaft of the prop.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTUyBdYfcfk

You can see me struggling to insert the core unit inside - some increase in tolerances are in order there, but I managed to squeeze it in for the demonstration.

The trigger is extremely responsive to activate the push button on the core, which I'm extremely happy with, as this is the most important function of the kit's new design features.

The FUD emitter head doesn't light up as much as I'd like (a result of the core unit and its relative position to the trigger on the actual prop leaving the LED a good distance away from it) so I grabbed a piece of 1/8" acrylic rod I had on hand to place in front of the LED and extend up into the emitter itself. I sanded the end and outside of the rod to diffuse the light and once implemented, you can see an increase in the brightness of the actual emitter. I've since ordered a 3/16" thick rod and redesigned the inside of the top 'fin assembly' to hold it in place. This should go a long way to light the emitter properly.

There is significant light bleed through the white plastic around the location of the emitter in the core but after one coat of black paint, it's significantly diminished and should be gone entirely after a few more coats of paint (except maybe in the dark).

index.php?t=getfile&id=86010&private=0

At the end of the video, you can see me comparing it to (what's left of) the old version of the model which was much smaller, and to the 11th/12th Doctor's sonic screwdriver 3d printed (and painted) prop I designed awhile back. At the very end, you can get a better look at the emitter brightness when I turn the desk lamp off.

I'm really happy with the way the pieces turned out, especially with the responsive functionality of the trigger. It's easier to activate it with the trigger on the model than with the push button itself! Aside from an oversight on my end involving the necessary clearance inside for core, everything fit's nicely. That emitter clicks right into place, you can hear it! It's just a but difficult to remove...

I am working on a tabletop game that uses these pieces. I have 11 gladiators and 18 arsenal pieces ready. My favorite part is that we were able to redesign the pedestals so that we can print legible character stats directly on there! Pretty fun.

Credit goes to SpecToys for much of the heavy lifting.

I am looking forward to getting the other 9 because a lot of them had more detailed armor/weapons/etc.

It goes without saying that if you model in 3D, at some point you do a robot. This one arrived yestday and it's printed in metallic plastic. Two pics attached.

For added fun, I stood Roger Retro on top of a flashlight to make his suit light up and his one eye glow brightly. Very cool at night !

Hi Shapeways fans,

Peek Cube is a Tribute to Carl Hoff's Window Real 5x5x5. Peek Cube is a spherical 3x3x3 surrounded by a 5x5x5 cube. Peek holes in the outer 5x5x5 enable you to see the state of the inner 3x3x3.

Hi Shapeways fans,

Bram's Cube Plus is a variation of Bram's Cube. Bram suggested that Bram's Cube could be improved as puzzle by having six-teeth gears instead of seven, and by exposing and stickering the slider pieces that connect the gears to the cube.

Firstly sorry for the not so great quality of the photos, I shall take some more soon. Please let me know what you think though!

index.php?t=getfile&id=84976&private=0

Above: just a ring tester. I only managed to get a couple of photos for it before it broke apart. I need to make it a little tougher.

index.php?t=getfile&id=84978&private=0

My first set of men's cufflinks, printed in plastic so I can make sure the sizing is correct. Possibly the favourite out of the shapes I've been experimenting with.

index.php?t=getfile&id=84979&private=0

Another set of cufflinks that I will be printing in metal soon, hopefully the surfacing will look even better.

index.php?t=getfile&id=84980&private=0

The cracked pendant. The original idea was to have a pendant that looked like a smooth gem that had been cracked all the way around. I might have to make the cracks a little bit deeper for a metal version.

index.php?t=getfile&id=84985&private=0

Another pendant. Sorry for the really terrible photo. This is supposed to be a more modern take, with sharp edges and flat faces. I might make it into a keyring also.

so, this is my SECOND 3D printed figure.

someone recommended a UK company first, that is where Krang in the lower right came from. he was 5 inches at $220's but the quality wasn't really there.

Then I got recommend shapeways. Leonardo stands at 10 inches (even though I submitted an 8 inch model, not complaining!) and cost $440's. he's all solid, so it is more of a statue quality to him
https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/10906194_10152946769840211_2075235405379444942_n.jpg?oh=e7bdb1491cf3e2d9e4da9c555d414d73&oe=55232558
This is my first try at painting the figure. The Eyes are marker-ed on.
https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/1508974_10152957291330211_6358962229622822065_n.jpg?oh=0781f01b427d9cee3e0f9ee3649cbfa9&oe=552D83A2
i have recently made changes to Leonardo so he has double the polygon count. The figure should turn out smoother than this prototype. And hopefully the mask will survive the printing process now. He is available for sale here in both ten inch and five inch versions. he should also be able to stand under his own power with newly flattened feet. Roof top base will be optional once I figure out how to drive price down.

I actually got these back in November/December but forgot to post them. The models were made in SolidWorks using the actual systems for reference and measurements. They are exactly to scale and every measurement is to within .25mm on the actual systems (in other words, to within .025 on the 3d print, theoretically - I don't think WSF prints that fine), including every screw, port, vent, crease, indentation (where labels would normally go) and even the text! I decided to directly model the text that would normally be printed on the system so I would have a raised surface to make painting it easier. For some systems, it turned out to be more suggestive but for others, it came out virtually readable (like the Wii U).

Most of them were painted directly with 1-3 coats of Testor's enamel then with 2-3 coats of varnish. The Wii and Wii U were painted with two coats of varnish first.

Fronts and backs, respectively (click photos for higher resolution).

https://m1.behance.net/rendition/modules/150356113/disp/6e7b28ef12406760dd5459f5cde487aa.JPG

I painted the ports their proper colors as well, including metals, plastics, etc. Here's a better view of the back of the Wii U.

https://m1.behance.net/rendition/modules/151896127/disp/a8ed558aee9e2fdf8b5e9ea72f1409a5.JPG

I'm especially happy with how the N64 logo came out on the front.

Hi Shapeways fans,

Andreas Crossing was requested by Andreas Nortmann. Andreas noted that there are many 2D puzzles with intersecting plungers like this one. So he wondered whether something similar could exist in three dimensions, using cubes instead of squares.

The puzzle has twenty cubies with hooks locked inside a frame. The hooks keep the cubies together. The hooking mechanism bears some similarities with that of Combo Cube.

Watch the YouTube video.

I guess the best way to describe the Flickster is to imagine a cross between a jet fighter and a surfboard. An unusual pairing, to be sure, but I'm very happy with how this printed considering the tight tolerance with the axles and wheels. Just a tap sends it rolling!

Hey everyone! I'm fairly new around here, but I've been on Shapeways since July developing several products. After months of prototyping, my first batch of designs are ready to sell to other people! They arrived on Christmas eve; I almost FLEW home when I got the text that my package was delivered to my doorstep.

There's a lot of information about my designs, so I made videos explaining how it works. My voice sounds dorky, but I figured it would at least be better than having a massive wall of text on the description.

Let me know what you think, or if there's anything that looks out of place!

Made some small cupped cartoon hands by extruding this hand from The Noun Project, then subtracting a sphere from it.

I don't have any real plans for them. I just thought they were neat.

Found a neat pixelated version of the Beatles online somewhere and converted it into full-color sandstone.

I'm always amazed at the amount of personality someone can achieve with a handful of pixels.

I'm also impressed at the structural integrity of full-color sandstone. I wasn't expecting this to print so well this thin, with those wee little arms.

I had someone commission this as a gift for a seal lion trainer. Then, some time later, another trainer contacted me to make one. This is the slightly revised version.

Hi Shapeways fans,

Scrambleable Cube is an idea by Bram Cohen, after seeing my Full Turn Cube. The puzzle is a "sequential discover" twisty puzzle. That is, when you play with it, you gradually learn its operation.
-Discovery 1: Meh, that just looks like a Rubik's Cube.
-Discovery 2: Hey, I can turn each of the faces, yeah, this must be just a Rubik's Cube.
-Discovery 3: Oh, after any first turn, I cannot turn any of the other faces. This must one of those joke Rubik's Cubes by Oskar.
-Discovery 4: Yeah, the puzzle can be actually be scrambled, see me do it.
-Discovery 5: Oops, now I have to solve it.

Watch the YouTube video.
Buy the puzzle at my Shapeways Shop.
Read more at the Twisty Puzzles Forum.
Check out the photos below.

Enjoy!

Oskar

I'm so excited to finally hold my first model!
This is a really special piece for me, as it's going to be a Christmas present for my grandfather, and it will totally blow his mind.
My grampy has apple trees in his back yard, and every morning he wakes up to find a small group of deer eating breakfast. Anyway, a few years ago he started getting surprise visits from a particularly special albino fawn, much to my grampy's delight. Unfortunately he met an early demise when he was shot by some douchebag hunter, and it was a day my grampy will never forget. I made this piece to commemorate the loss of that little white angel, and also because my grampy is color blind, and has never been able to see any of the art I've created in the same way as everyone else, so I wanted to make something without color he can appreciate. After many hours studying deer anatomy, I came up with this.

Very excite to have this come form Shapeways. It needs some modifications but it really rocks. It is a totally different experience having such a firm grip when holding your phone. The design is using an iso-surface over a 3D cloud of points.

Will go into the next round of prototyping and also have a iPhone 6 version coming.

Enjoy

Wave Ball Pendant 25mm - Polished brass. From a different angle it looks completely different. It's surprisingly very rigid for a shape that doesn't have supporting connections between the inside and outside like the storm ball.
