Over the past few days every time I log in to my account my password fails to get me in. I reset the password use it for that session then next session the password doesn't work again. Could you please look into why this keeps happening. Thank you!

Nothing serious, I just noticed that after ordering some of my own models from the "My Models" overview screen, upon returning to that overview I was greeted with the green "It will take a few minutes for your model changes to be propagated throughout the site." banner that is normally shown shortly after an upload. (Might be something to do with the fact that I ordered them in non-default materials ?)

Just a note to report that your mention on your Stainless Steel materials webpage that the percent is 70% stainless steel and 30% bronze, but on the materials pdf download sheet this percentage is listed as 60% stainless steel and 40% bronze. This should be corrected to match I think.

By the way, which is the correct percentage? As I am thinking of designing a special stainless steel threaded insert for an historic barber stool with a very strange ACME 7/8" - (8 threads per inch) elevation spin rod.

If you add a tag which is numeric but contains leading zeros then those leading zeros are removed. The specific example I've seen this with is '009'. This is a useful tag as it is a specific gauge of narrow gauge railway modelling. Some people refer to the gauge as OO9 but some use 009 so I've been tagging my models with both. The OO9 versions are fine but the 009 tag ends up begin reduced to just 9 as the leading zeros are removed. I believe this is a bug and that the tags should be left as they are entered -- i.e. I know what the tag should be so please don't go and change it :)

Hi.

This morning 12:00 PM GMT+1 saturday june 7th 2014 "The Feed" is working a little lazy.

https://www.shapeways.com/feed?li=nav

I've added to my favorites three models, and this didn't appear in "The Feed".

I'm sure many sold models, photos actualizations, etc. weren't watching here.

That's only a stadistic tool, but it's nice to take a look on it from time to time.

Regards

Luis

I went through some old models today - to add photos, and price them for sale. By default, it seems all materials are selected for sale with a markup of $0. Materials then need to be turned off and/or a markup added. Not terrible, but many more mouse clicks than desired for a simple posting. Perhaps not a problem going into the future, but an annoyance certainly.

Nice to see though, that the printed before flags exist even for these old models!

I added 14k gold as a material for several models and in each case it changed the default material to gold, but only AFTER I exited the price setting screen, so there was not alternative to having to go back in again to set the default material. Grrrrr!

As and aside, the grouping of the materials for price setting - a big -1.

All day I went in and out of my new design, I used to see that all steel materials are checked OK, but... at the end of the day suddenly I see that all steel materials have "thin walls" warning, showing that some of the walls are not thick enough.

Can someone tell me why?

When I search for "Rod of Asclepius" on the main Shapeways site, no results are returned. However if I search simply for "Asclepius" then 2 pages of results are returned.

Anyone else noticed this?

When logged in, clicking on an item and then returning to the feed via the browser's back button leaves one with the first page of the feed even if it was expanded with the "load more" button - I think this used to work correctly for a while and appears to be broken again as of last week.
On the other hand, when not logged in, going back and forward in the feed appears to still work fine, but do you really need to show that obnoxious "seeing is believing" overlay window on every single item that is selected from the feed ? (Also, shouldn't the button in that thing read "sign up" rather than "log in" when it seems to ask for an email adress to send marketing blurbs to ?)

Hello,

I was testing a banner image for my shop, but I don't see an option for removing it, only replacing it. I would rather not have anything up at all until I find a design I like. I tried uploading just an image with a white background, but the old image keeps coming up.

Also, one of my items in my shop recently got rejected. After modifying the model, it only shows the default shapeways render, not the image I keep setting as default.

The Item is : https://www.shapeways.com/model/1753067/beekeeper-chess-coll ection-rook.html?li=user-profile&materialId=86

Thanks

Hi.

Is a feature I like to watch sometimes when I'm working on my evil plans. But from two hours ago, It's static in the same models list (It never happened before).

What's the problem?

I tried to check out with Pay Pal. It does not take me to the PayPal site so I can choose method of payment thru Pay Pal, like checking or credit card.
Must me a quick check out or something.

PayPal keeps defaulting to my bank account and I want it on my credit card.

Even when I tried to go with the bank method is says my browser has sent a bad request.

I order lot of items this way and it has always worked.
What is the problem?

Hello,

This is a repeat of a problem that I have been having with the CSV Markup Wizard, described here.

I am using Linux (Fedora 20), and have tried this on Chrome and Firefox. I don't have ready access to a Windows or Mac machine.

In summary: my model titles have quotation marks. The .csv file that I download does not escape those marks. When I upload an unchanged file, it errors out because it puts the data in the wrong columns. When I manually escape the quotation marks (I have Perl script parse it) and re-upload the file, it seems to accept it (the columns in the preview look right), but then it errors out with "To prevent this from happening, download the CSV file again, and make sure you ONLY edit the last column, titled "markup"."

At the very least, it should be able to accept an unmodified file, though this may involve escaping the quotation marks in the csv file that I originally download.

Hi,

It would be nice to be able to perform simple scaling on a model after it is uploaded.
I've had to upload the same model separately at different scales if I want to change
the size.

Also, some 3D geometry packages use Y-axis as the world up vector, while others use
the Z-axis. Often my models come in lying on their backs. It would be nice to be able
to do a simple X-axis rotation to compensate for this.

Thanks,
Clay Budin

I love working with your site, It use to be better though.

For example; I could put an image up on my "Logo" and it would appear on my Shop "Logo" . But No, Not now, It is a different image.
Also; I could have put an image, Photo or some jpg image up on my "profile" but NOT now, Nope it just doesn't work.
And then there is the issue with my new banner. It shows up in my "profile not not in the Shop Banner.

Now I realize that you are forcing folks to print things that they sell. and if we are following the process guidelines There shouldn't be an issue.
And if there is, it shows up in the order spread sheet and can be addressed there. Add to that; the minor changes to the interior of a all ready printed design has shown to cause cancelation of orders and thus the needed changes can be made because of such cancelations.
And when minor changes do not cause a problem and it prints OK with no issues, Why would I be forced to print it.
Yeah, $. from me to you. It needs to be worth it for me.
Are your changes motivated by the desire to help things go more smoothly, more mechanical? They may be good changes if they work.
I am just finding a few things in the graphics that don't work for me yet. But they use to.

I scaled a model down and uploaded it so I could use the new material thickness check to give me an idea of what the problem areas were going to be.

To my surprise it did not pick up one area I expected to find problems and on checking I find that area is 0.697mm thick . Now that's a only 0.003mm too thin to be printed in WSF but I've had rejections in the past for 0.001 mm more !

When you add a new item, the shop categories dropdown is not shown. It used to appear as soon as you made a model public and updated, but doesn't now.

The only way I could make it appear was to go to a different page and come back - then it was there on the page waiting for me. Even refreshing the page did not work.

This messes up the workflow of adding new items somewhat.

May I suggest there is no real reason to hide it in the first place ? There is nothing to stop us making something already in a shop category private afterwards.

Not really a bug, but if you put a model in different shop sections, then there are empty line between them. These line are not there right after you add the sections, but they appear when you come back to the page later. If you add new sections, the old sections are still separated by an empty line and the new ones are not (until you come back later).

The Netmining cookie you are setting from http://shapeways.netmng.com/?aid=2581 causes Internet Explorer (10) to warn me that "Only secure content is displayed" on every page, because the rest is https://.

Can you fix it so the cookie is set through https://?

Does the widget work? I was looking at the tutorial and see what I think is an error. The code listed is:

<iframe frameborder="0" style=" border:1px solid #c0c0c0; height:182px; width:628px;" src=" /widget/include.php?shop=YOURSHOPNAME&shopcat=SHOPSECTIO NNAME&style=light "></iframe>

Doesn't the src value have to refer back to www.shapeways.com?

I think this code works fine on the shapeways site, but nowhere else, Of course I don't pretend to understand HTML, although I have designed a couple simple websites.

And how do you enter a shop name that has spaces? Do you have to use "&20" to replace them. And is it case sensitive? And my shop name is "Dave's Model Railway Stuff" How about the apostrophe?

I can't get anything to work. If a tutorial doesn't help- that's a bug.

What I really want to do is to imbed the current customer price of particular models on my webpage. It doesn't look like the API does this.

Who wants to set defaults for every object they import?[ 3 vote(s) ]
1.Being able to customize my import options sounds great! 2 / 67%
2.Who cares. It's fine as it is. 1 / 33%

Oops. I now see the "Suggestions Forum" which seems like a better place for this post. Click this link to complete the poll there:

https://www.shapeways.com/forum/index.php?t=msg&goto=769 18#msg_76918

I would very much like it if I could set a variety of parameters for uploading an object just once, and then every object I import after that would default to those settings.
It's not that big a deal, but having to go and click 11 various radio buttons every time I bring in a new objects gets old and annoying, and stifles creativity.
Specifically:
- I want to upload all my objects in the Meters scale.
- So far I dont really ever want the ceramic materials, nor the sandstones, turn them off by default and I'll activate them in the rare cases.
- I would love it to auto price for me!
just adding X that I set to the price would be cool.
better for me, as I am a fan of whole numbers, would be if I could set up a list like
$1 - $5 = $7
$5 - $10 = $15
$10 - $20 = $25
$20 - $30 = $35
$30 - $40 = $50
$40 - $66 = $70
etc...
- Default Categories would be nice
- Being able to save various groups of tags which I could click 1 button and instantly add a bunch of metatags that are always gonna be grouped would be great!

Hook us up, please!

I uploaded a bunch of photos for a few models that are not for display but are for sale (to offer different ring sizes) but the photos seem to have disappeared. Do I need to reload them? Also, as I was testing out how some of this would work, it seems the permalink on some of these models changed. Under what circumstances would that happen?

When I open the "Edit Details" page, the description is there and easy to read. However, as soon as I click on it, it collapses to about 4 lines, and I have to scroll up and down to do any editing. I can drag it open again, but as soon as I flip to another tab and remove focus, it saves... and when I try to go back in, it collapses again. When you're adding the URLs of other similar items, this gets very, VERY old, very fast. Is this collapse happening for everyone, or am I a special snowflake and the only "victim"? Smile

I'm running on Firefox 24.0 on a Mac... I've got the NoScript extension, but shapeways.com and sw-cdn.net are whitelisted.

I use SketchUp 8 and the instructions you give for uploading and installing the plug-in for it has an error. It comes in a zipped file. You say to not unzip it, but when you tell SketchUp to install the plug-in the window that opens up does not see the zipped file. You open it with compressed folder function and you still do not see it. I think you need to find out exactly how to do it and change your web site iinstructions. I cannot find a way and I tried several.

Hi guys!

Uservoice is gone for good, so we are breaking up Bug Reports and Site Feedback into 2 sections.

In this topic, feel free to share any specific issues you're facing with the website, your shops, your models, or your overall experience. Hi all,

I got a request and was asked to post it here. Now I had some troubles with my models after ordering and because of it the order was cancelt. But then the order remains on you account only under the status of cancelt. Now if that happens mutliple times its easy to lose track of which are accurate. Since sometimes even when there cancelt they remain also on the status of "Pending".

Maybe a good idea for the near future.

Cheers,

BryceK

I've come across a couple of issues with the 3D viewer. I've found that I need to use the 3D viewer to check my models, because the model as presented on the site doesn't always match the output from Netfabb Basic (where I do my final checks before uploading).

1. No zooming. When I need to check the model in detail, this gets difficult in the small area that the 3D viewer provides.

2. Autorotation. When you open the 3D viewer, the model automatically rotates. When I click and drag on the model to see a specific angle, the autorotation should stop. The model should stay at the angle I positioned it at.
Currently, as soon as I release the mouse button, the model starts rotating again. We need a pause button.

3. Rotation limits. I can't rotate up or down by more than 90 degrees. Combined with 2., that makes it difficult to be sure I've seen the model from all angles.

4. Rotation up/down. This movement is really coarse: there are only a few angles to choose from. It's also choppy: the angle lags behind my mouse movement, and then catches up by jumping to the new angle.
In contrast, rotating left/right works as it should: you can choose from many angles, and the angle closely follows the mouse.

I've seen this on 2 computers (Mac with Firefox, Windows 7 with Firefox and IE) so I don't think it's just me.
