The default material I originally selected for my pendants are no longer being displayed the way I would like them. In the smaller "preview window" it is shown correctly (because I selected the default "image" to be the default material) but when I, or other users actually click on the pendant preview image (from a list of other pendants) in order to go to the full page for the product (where you can change material selection, purchase, comment, etc.) the default material is not the same, and has changed to another default material (frosted plastic for me) that I never selected. Are other people having this issue? Is there something I need to do?

I have found that searching our own models in own account for a particular piece can be a bit hit and miss for some reason for a long time now.

Example that happened today: I typed in "vikings" and and "viking" and kept getting the No Results page come up... Then I just tried typing each letter of the word slowly, one by one, and managed to type "vik" when suddenly the model was found!! What's up with that?!

It used to be that when in Edit mode and on the Selling tab you could select the default material which would then - as stated - become the default material on the model page. Now, this does not happen. Instead one has to go to the Details tab and scroll down to the material you want. The "Default Material" designation is there but the button is not checked. One now has to check that to set the default material.

I removed some material options for 7 on my items. 3 of them are acting strangely.

I had set my items to default to the metallic plastic material, but i decided to stop offering that material and removed it on my items today. Its been 2 hours and 3 of my items still show the plastic as the default and even lets me add it to my cart. i've checked the selling options on them several times and they are for sure not available in the plastic.

Interesting side note: the plastic do not appear in the material selections on the top right of the item page. if you select a different material there is no way to go back to the plastic.

here is one of the items for reference

Hi,

the order of my products in my public profile is different from the one in my shop.
Before the update they had the the same order as in the Shop Inventory.

Public profile:
https://www.shapeways.com/designer/StefanoAlberti

Shop:
https://www.shapeways.com/shops/StefanoAlbertiDesign

I'm not sure it's a bug, but I think it was better before the update.

Thanks,
Stefano

Not sure if this is a bug but it is odd. If I download a compressed x3d formatted file from my account, and then upload the EXACT same compressed file as an update to another model the system does not recognize the zipped file. I can work around this by uncompressing the file and then uploading the uncompressed file, but why does this need to be done?

I haven't had giant model files yet that need to be compressed so this is a unique problem so far. But if I need to in the future is there a preferred way to compress files for upload?

If I am shipping my product to another country, but my credit card is registered in my home country, Shapeways forces the billing address country to be the destination country. This means I need to pay with Paypal to accomplish the checkout. I imagine this means more fees for Shapeways. It's something you should look into.

It would be really cool if there were an android optimized app to, view, and buy products, or at least an app for the shop owners to access their ships and stay in touch with other members, maybe even upload stl files if their device can do it.

Hello

I wanted to order some game pieces and due to an error made by the designer i was notified that the print has been canceled.
No problem I thought and tried to order a different object. Well, instead of ordering it I had website breakdowns from 11.00-12.00pm CET and was not able to order the object and when finally the website was online I no longer could use the CYBER20 discount.

I am little bit annoyed by this.

Hopefully you can help me,

My order status is pending.
When I click on the cancel order button the page goes a dark grey colour and I can see the words
"The requested content cannot be loaded".
This happens on firefox and chrome so I think its a bug in Shapeways' website.
Anybody else seeing this?
I've emailed shapeways yesterday, no response yet.
How do I cancel this order?

I messaged customer service, but it looks like they didn't even read my email. Since then, I've done several more tests. Here's what's wrong:

When I upload a model in collada format, the dimensions are perfect, but when I put the SAME collada file into a ZIP, the dimensions are wrong when it's uploaded.

How I confirmed this:

Test 1
-Made a solid (6 sided) cube at 20cm3 (200mm3) (20cm x20cm x20cm, or 200mm x 200mm x 200mm)
-Exported model as a collada file (dae)
-Uploaded collada file to Shapeways (selecting millimeters as the input unit)
-The dimensions are as expected: 20cm x 20cm x 20cm

Test 1a
-Used the SAME collada file from "Test 1"
-Put file into a ZIP
-Uploaded collada file to Shapeways (selecting millimeters as the input unit)
-The dimensions are wrong. 0.508cm x 0.508cm x 0.508cm

Test 2
-Made a solid (6 sided) cube at 10cm3 (100mm3) (10cm x10cm x10cm, or 100mm x 100mm x 100mm)
-Exported model as a collada file (dae)
-Uploaded collada file to Shapeways (selecting millimeters as the input unit)
-The dimensions are as expected: 10cm x 10cm x 10cm

Test 2a
-Used the SAME collada file from "Test 2"
-Put file into a ZIP
-Uploaded collada file to Shapeways (selecting millimeters as the input unit)
-The dimensions are wrong. 0.254cm x 0.254cm x 0.254cm

At this point, I notice a patter... 0.254cm?? I know there are 2.54 cm per inch, so I look at inches, it says 0.1 x 0.1 x 0.1

Odd...

I look at the file (on shapeways) for the 200mm cube, under inches it says: 0.2 x 0.2 x 0.2

Finally getting somewhere, it's interpreting ym dimensions as INCHES instead of MILLIMETERS, but ONLY when the file is IN A ZIP.

For the next test, I did the same as above, but selected "inches" as the input unit instead of millimeters. No change. Then, as a last ditch effort, I uploaded AGAIN, selected "inches" then "millimeters" thinking maybe the radio button was "stuck" on the back end. No dice.

With my testing, I can now use a zip file to upload my models and images, but I have to model in mm as if the units are 100mm = 0.1in. Please take a look at th9is and fix it as it's very inconvenient.

Again, the EXACT SAME file works perfectly when uploaded alone, but the dimensions are in INCHES when the SAME file is uploaded inside a zip.

I've attached the collada file and the SAME files in a zip for you to test with.

Thanks for the help,
LeRoy Wood IIII

When on a model page and clicking the Pinterest icon to share on that site, the image that shows up in the "pin" is the standard gray render, even if another material render is selected. Since you have gone to all the trouble of creating these renders for our models it would be nice if we could use them in a "pin"...

Edit: However, when on the "My Models" page and clicking on the Pinterest icon on a model the correct render is selected... but the image is a small one.

I am once again experiencing the Wall Thickness Check purgatory issue. It only seems to be happening with certain models.

These two went to purgatory: https://www.shapeways.com/model/1506854/bjp-heart-flourish-p endant-small.html?materialId=84
https://www.shapeways.com/model/1498630/bjp-butterfly-flouri sh-heart-large.html?materialId=60

While these ones went to the Elysian fields: https://www.shapeways.com/model/1982426/helpsnowflake-small. html?materialId=84
https://www.shapeways.com/model/1972618/bjp-butterfly-pendan t-small.html?materialId=84
https://www.shapeways.com/model/1972497/bjp-butterfly-pendan t-large.html?materialId=84

Windows 7 Firefox Adblock and Noscripts, both allow Shapeways scripts/ads.

EDIT: Also experiencing thin walls check purgatory for this guy: https://www.shapeways.com/model/2481802/lithedragonfinaltex1 .html?materialId=6 The notification that he has thin walls shows up for the color plastic material but when I click on it to see where the thin walls are, it never loads.

And no, waiting for a half hour or trying at different times of day does not make a difference.

OK, hard to set the title for this one, thing is that when I go into my shop: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/mandelpieces all my models are shown with my own photos (except one where I have chosen the shapeways render)

But when I sort the shop with Price Low to high (and High to low): http://www.shapeways.com/shops/mandelpieces?sort=pricelh

The photos are replaced by Shapeways renders on some of them... Weird! :)

I've reported this twice to Shapeways, including today.

Is anyone having problems adding comments to the Blog entries? I have tried on two different computers, and three web browsers to add comments to a Blog post. They are simply not being accepted. When I tried on the second computer today, some few hours after my initial attempts on other computer I got a message saying something like "Oops, looks like you just repeated yourself", which indicates to me that the "system" took my comments they just weren't showing up.

Right now, apart from one Blog post that has 30 comments, not a single one has a comment at all (not even the usual Spam!), which is what made me ask this question here.

Nothing serious, I just noticed that after ordering some of my own models from the "My Models" overview screen, upon returning to that overview I was greeted with the green "It will take a few minutes for your model changes to be propagated throughout the site." banner that is normally shown shortly after an upload. (Might be something to do with the fact that I ordered them in non-default materials ?)

Just a note to report that your mention on your Stainless Steel materials webpage that the percent is 70% stainless steel and 30% bronze, but on the materials pdf download sheet this percentage is listed as 60% stainless steel and 40% bronze. This should be corrected to match I think.

By the way, which is the correct percentage? As I am thinking of designing a special stainless steel threaded insert for an historic barber stool with a very strange ACME 7/8" - (8 threads per inch) elevation spin rod.

If you add a tag which is numeric but contains leading zeros then those leading zeros are removed. The specific example I've seen this with is '009'. This is a useful tag as it is a specific gauge of narrow gauge railway modelling. Some people refer to the gauge as OO9 but some use 009 so I've been tagging my models with both. The OO9 versions are fine but the 009 tag ends up begin reduced to just 9 as the leading zeros are removed. I believe this is a bug and that the tags should be left as they are entered -- i.e. I know what the tag should be so please don't go and change it :)

Hi.

This morning 12:00 PM GMT+1 saturday june 7th 2014 "The Feed" is working a little lazy.

https://www.shapeways.com/feed?li=nav

I've added to my favorites three models, and this didn't appear in "The Feed".

I'm sure many sold models, photos actualizations, etc. weren't watching here.

That's only a stadistic tool, but it's nice to take a look on it from time to time.

I went through some old models today - to add photos, and price them for sale. By default, it seems all materials are selected for sale with a markup of $0. Materials then need to be turned off and/or a markup added. Not terrible, but many more mouse clicks than desired for a simple posting. Perhaps not a problem going into the future, but an annoyance certainly.

Nice to see though, that the printed before flags exist even for these old models!

I added 14k gold as a material for several models and in each case it changed the default material to gold, but only AFTER I exited the price setting screen, so there was not alternative to having to go back in again to set the default material. Grrrrr!

As and aside, the grouping of the materials for price setting - a big -1.

All day I went in and out of my new design, I used to see that all steel materials are checked OK, but... at the end of the day suddenly I see that all steel materials have "thin walls" warning, showing that some of the walls are not thick enough.

Can someone tell me why?

When I search for "Rod of Asclepius" on the main Shapeways site, no results are returned. However if I search simply for "Asclepius" then 2 pages of results are returned.

Anyone else noticed this?

When logged in, clicking on an item and then returning to the feed via the browser's back button leaves one with the first page of the feed even if it was expanded with the "load more" button - I think this used to work correctly for a while and appears to be broken again as of last week.
On the other hand, when not logged in, going back and forward in the feed appears to still work fine, but do you really need to show that obnoxious "seeing is believing" overlay window on every single item that is selected from the feed ? (Also, shouldn't the button in that thing read "sign up" rather than "log in" when it seems to ask for an email adress to send marketing blurbs to ?)

Hello,

I was testing a banner image for my shop, but I don't see an option for removing it, only replacing it. I would rather not have anything up at all until I find a design I like. I tried uploading just an image with a white background, but the old image keeps coming up.

Also, one of my items in my shop recently got rejected. After modifying the model, it only shows the default shapeways render, not the image I keep setting as default.

The Item is : https://www.shapeways.com/model/1753067/beekeeper-chess-coll ection-rook.html?li=user-profile&materialId=86

Thanks

Hi.

Is a feature I like to watch sometimes when I'm working on my evil plans. But from two hours ago, It's static in the same models list (It never happened before).

What's the problem?

Now is 0:19 GMT+1 in the gate of paradise (Spain).

Regards

Luis
