Hi,

If you're looking for an experienced 3D modeler able to turn your concept or 2D design into a 3D print ready model, you're invited for a visit to Sevensheaven.nl for an impression.

I'm experienced in sculpting and preparing 3D models for 3D printing at Shapeways, using 3ds Max. As a professional designer I've been involved in several commercial toy character sculpting projects, including toys and gadgets derived from my comic character Seamour Sheep.

Best regards,

Metin Seven

I've taken on a few jobs posted in the "3D modeler needed" forums, and wanted to put myself out there as a designer and modeler for hire. I specialize in miniatures and monster designs, but I've also worked on jewelry, standees, props, and other 3d modeling projects.

I'm experienced in both concept art and modeling, with a working knowledge of Zbrush, Maya, and Sketchup, so I can produce mechanical and organic models on a quick turnaround. For larger models, I've worked out a hollowing pipeline that minimizes cost by shelling models to a minimum safe thickness.

I have experience with moldmaking and casting in resin and metal, and know how to produce sectional models for assembling onto a sprue.

You can see my illustrative and concept portfolio HERE and I've included a number of my modeling projects in this thread.

My shop has several more examples of my work, as does the store at Custombitz.com, a team I'm working with for some new projects.

This forum is filling up nicely with all kind of offers for (commercial) work. I'm just curious - how did it work for you? Did you get some paid jobs through this forum yet?

Do you feel that a '3d designers marketplace' is an essential part of Shapeways?

I'd love to hear about your experiences and learn how we should improve this further.

Thanks!

  • Play nice. Post no more than once per month and don't bump your own posts to be at the top of the list.
  • Please keep to one thread per modeler. Feel free to reply to any comments on your thread, but wait one month to post if you were the last person to comment. It's always good to show off the work that you worked on since your last post.

Hello.

I would like a select all and apply a set price to all feature. When uploading a model and then clicking on the edit details tab, when you scroll to the bottom to set pricing you have to select one at a time. I would like to select all possible materials and set my flat rate to every material. See picture.

Thanks.

Tremendously exciting creations that send your inner child into a merry go round tale spin.

In a nutshell, if I order 3 models and only two are printable the shipping costs become more expensive because I have to pay them twice in order to get the other canceled model.

My suggestion is cancel the entire order. Don't make me pay another $6.50.

I am always open for commission, if you like my work and want something unique to you, somthing no one else can have but you, drop me a PM and we can talk.

Hello, I have been away from Shapeways for awhile and I am really please with all the cool tools that shop owners now have!

I have been busy updating my shop and models. When I first created a shop I was going to make more technical models so I named it "hypersphere" Since then a friend and I have created many new Jewelry designs and re-named the shop to "Nylon Method" our partnership name. I noticed this does not change the url on the shapeways website :

http://www.shapeways.com/shops/hypersphere

You still have to go to the old shop URL to access the shop. Is there a way to request a URL change to match the new name of the shop?

Thanks in advance!

Is there a way shop owners could generate promo codes that would reduce their mark up fees? I don't need this functionality right now, but I can see how if you are running your storefront from shapeways website directly, it may be useful for sales or black friday or whatever.

Another thing that WOULD be useful for me and probably others is if you could provide material/texture files for your materials. I would be nice if people could render pictures of their products that are as close to the real thing as possible. It would be nice to see what rough vs. polished would look like. Or see the subsurface scattering of the matte vs shiny black ceramic. Not sure if it's too much work to do specific files for each program or whatever, but I use Blender so start there if you ahve to choose :-D

I've just opened my Shapeways shop and so far I've been making role-playing counters for Dungeons & Dragons and other tabletop games.
Right now there are only 6 models (with another 6 soon to be available):

Berian Models

The categories that I chose for my role-playing counters are "Games" and "Miniatures". They seem fairly good, but I'm not totally satisfied, especially by the Miniatures category.

I noticed that dice (by "Made by Wombat" mainly) are a very popular item: I was wondering if there's any chance of adding a Role-Playing subcategory to Games, or maybe a Miniatures sub-category for counters and such.

Of course I realize there might not be enough role-playing/counter models on Shapeways to justify creating these categories!
Just asking :)

Hello,

Been wondering if anyone is doing dropshipping with Shapeways? Eg selling on Amazon or Ebay, and specifying the customer address as the shipping address?

As I understand from my reasearch, this is only possible if the billing and the shipping address is in the same country.
( this rule is due to the international rules Creditcard companies and Paypal use regarding VAT)

Also, one problem mentioned here ( https://www.shapeways.com/blog/archives/726-expand-your-mark et-to-sites-such-as-etsy-and-ebay.html) is that the markup may be revealed to the customer. Perhaps this could be circumvented by ordering with an account that is not the creator/uploaded on shapeways.

Just tried adding my items on Amazon, but it requests a so called GTIN number that are very expensive. Does SW provide one perhaps? Smile

Can we request an exemption for 3d printed stuff from Amazon? What are your experiences?

PS I ended up buying a 1000 on ebay for 15 bucks. Legit and works Smile This gtin seems like a mafia charging exorbitant fees.

I work here
Hey guys,

As you probably know, we feature a designer every week on our homepage in the Designer Spotlight section and also an interview on the blog.

I'd love to feature more of your designs and I thought a short video would be a great way to showcase them! We'll be using these on the blog, and as category headers - like say for "Miniatures" or "Jewelry".

Here's my 30 second example that took five minutes to make:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJiCWUAFqJc&feature=youtu .be

Here's the foolproof plan to make your video:

Sit in front of your computer, set up your video, smile and press RECORD!
Introduce yourself and what you do
Show us your favorite design and tell us why you like it
Invite us to check it out in your shop!
Upload to YouTube and post it here

That's it. 30 seconds should do it, short and sweet!

Some tips:

You can use PhotoBooth on your Mac or Windows Movie Maker on your PC.

Sit in a quiet place so we can hear you - I chose to sit against a white wall, but you can show us your studio or office too!

Have your model ready to show and slowly show us

Smile!

Check out my video as an example, then submit your own here and await fame Smile

Can't wait to show off you and your designs!

Natalia

Is there a reason this option isn't available yet?
I know there can be issues with generic designs (designers might not want their files to be pirated/proliferated) but there should be no problem for personalized co-creator files.
Anyway, I think Shapeways should offer this option before someone else does. Eventually this will be a huge market, comparable to the app market for cell phones Shocked Very Happy

I was looking through my Google Analytics for my Shapeways shop and trying to see if I could trace the origins of the Search traffic that had landed there . It says I need to have Webmaster Tools enabled on the site, but the verification program for this involves uploading a file and I don't have the access to do this.

Is there another way of doing this ?

Hi!

Do packages ex. Eindhoven for delivery within VAT EEC areas
carry declaration of VAT being pre-paid and accounted against
a specific VAT Registered Number?

Thanks.
