Hi,

I think that if designer will set thickness for CustomMaker - it will not good idea because such parameter is variable for different materials. So I suggest fix minimal value for thickness according to selected material and let buyer set bigger (but not smaller) values. In this case designer will define only area and probably mask for area and all other parameters will be controlled by SW (minimal thickness according to selected material) and buyer as he want.

Thank you.

On some parts I want to offer personalization in either text or image in the same exact area. The customer can decide which they want to use. So it's kind of a pain to adjust the boxes because the dimension slider controls for both text and image boxes are active at the same time during set up. If you could at least enable just one box at a time during set up editing that would help a lot. Or if we could use a common box for both that would also work.

Of course the predefined box placements are rather limiting in the first place, so if you could come up with a scheme to let the buyer place (multiple) images or text lines wherever they want that would be a better solution in the long run.

We are now at custom engraving / embossing text / images.

Next feature I propose is custom UV maps to be submitted by the designer/artist for templates.

In special this feature it is for COLOR PRINTED MATERIALS (Sandstone for now ) (aka taking account the future of new color plastics and stuff)

Uploading different character designs and stuff to be made in Sandstone with only difference being only the UV mapped texture it is making a very simple idea to become a full blown shop out of proportions and bad organisation in the end on all Shapeways.

This can be enhanced further with generated UV mapped textured text input -> similar to how custom maker is for embossing / engraving now.

Has anyone tried customizing a porcelain product yet? Porcelain is missing from the depth recommendations list so maybe it's a bad idea? Also I'm not sure if 1mm depths are at all sufficient after the parts are glazed, but customizing an unglazed area on the bottom would work in many situations.

I have a product with the CustomMaker option enabled (an image box). A week ago I order a print from this model which was cancelled by Shapeways due to not meeting minimums for the material. I have contacted Shapeways about this and they will allow me to resubmit the same print, but now the CustomMaker option is not working. It is still enabled on my product, but when I view the product the option to add an image is not displayed. I had not changed the settings of the product since I originally set it up so I don't know why it stopped working. Any ideas?

Here is the link to my model: https://www.shapeways.com/product/HB8Q282AX/custom-1-quot-di a-usc-gs-triangulation-station-replica

Feedback on custom maker:

I'm excited to get this into place for a pair of cufflinks, but need the option to add more than just one text box.
Unless I'm mistaken you can only add one text box (if you can in fact add more then this option should be much more obvious).

Additionally after you click 'add text box' it should be more obvious what you do next. (a simple popup that says 'click on your model where your thing should go'? or similar could work well).

thanks for getting going on this feature; it has lots of potential.

I have uploaded a new model. I want to add text to it myself using CustomMaker. When I click on the 'Add Text Box' field it and the 'Add Image Box' grey out and I can do nothing to the model except turn it around. I have tried this multiple times. At one point I actually did get the Image to appear to allow me to add an image but when I cancelled that and went back in I still could not add either text or an image.

Just wasting my time here... This is the model URL.
https://www.shapeways.com/product/DXES2XWAJ/marias-pendant?k ey=319e763ffd9da97cb8799612ed670f87

Note that I had to double the size of it to see if that made any difference. It did not. I am now going to have to add the text myself and re-upload just as I always do.

EDIT: Despite the fact that the model was fully uploaded, rendered, etc. when I tried this originally, I have now re-tried and it seems to be working.

Hello
I have been setting the depth to 0.5mm, saved the changes and it will go back to 1mm
That will not give a good result at the finished piece. Can you please fix that

I work here
1: set the detail depth to 1mm.
2: Save changes, view product, go back to edit page
Result: Slider moves back to default position but says 1mm
Maybe I can slide it and make it more than 1mm? No, it stays at 1mm.

Currently if you set embossing or engraving this attribute is then owned by both boxes (text and image).

In my test I wanted to have the picture engraved and suddenly also the text was engraved ...

But the rest is at least not so bad at all:
- image engraving worked with the first shot

It happens that the text input fails on the round surfaces and full on them.

Upload a plain bracelet -> add text input -> lands not on full surface of the bracelet.

Maybe adding a curve to edit the text placement or something for this thing of surfaces.

Usable in :

Rings , Bracelets , Round bases for Sculptures , ornamental round objects etc

looking for a modeler to do a quick job for me.

I have 7 inch model trees for tabletop wargaming and I am looking for someone to make a round base with a tree trunk in the middle that I can then slide my model trees into and have them stand up freely.

The base of the trees have 0.75 inch wire which id like to slide down into the trunk on the base you model.

Attached are some pictures explaining this:

Id like the round base to have a 1.5 inch diameter and the trunk in the middle be approx 0.75-1 inch high with a thin hole in the middle for which the tree wire will slide down into.

Id also like the base to be textured to look like grass rock, etc..

please email if interested in doing this asap, many thanks

New kind of toy-with moving parts...please be in U.S. Be willing to help me upload the designs...and be very knowledgeable with moving parts. Best experience and low cost gets my business.

Just a little more...Project is not what I have posted before with the "infectible zombie" stuff...but a little along those lines.

I can't go into specifics--but looking for it to be around "fist sized" or a little bigger. Has multiple "straight tubes" in the design. And has a few interchangeable parts....I think it's really cool---and want someone to love it as well.

Already has some interest by a an agent...that may/or may not mean anything to you. I have no idea if it will go anywhere, but I love cool (and unique) toys--so hopefully this will interest someone...

thank you :)

"Latest edition" Hello, I am sorry for not typing this in the description and apologize in advance to anyone who reads this.
First, I would like to say sorry for not being more informative of my post, this post was not forward enough and I shall now make it so.
I am not looking for artist to hire, I retype this again, this post is not a job offer.
This post is an idea suggestion, I type this for all to participate in, you can make it or not the choice is completely up to you.
This idea suggestion is open to anyone who would like to take it, you do not need my permission to do so.

Finally I would like to apologize again in advance for the misinterpretation of this post, and if this community form is only for job offers, I ask for the administrators to delete this post, no questions ask.

Thank you and sorry again for taking the time to read this, and I hope you have a pleasant day.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this request, so you may or may not know a lot about transformers, if you don't that's okay, if so then great.
Currently in the Transformers IDW comics, there is a mini series called "COMBINER WARS" and what is causing this war you may ask ? It is beginning cause by the Enigma of Combination, I and possibly many others would like to posses this artifact of the ancients and display it with our own Transformers figures, so I hope any one who is willing to take up this task, I and many others will be thankful, and thank you again for taking the time to read this request and please have an awesome day.

I have an origami that I made from MTA cards and had it painted to match my car. I am having a great deal of trouble trying to create a 3D image of it using Rhino or Maya. Basically it's 20 three sided pyramids arranged in in a pentagonal array forming a sphere. They were created many years ago called bucky balls. I would love to create a 3D printable version to sell via Shapeways. I of course need help doing this, and I have the actual origami piece and /or picture to work from. I can be reached on mustache77@aol.com

There are a few members on here that have made some outstanding Bionicle masks. I've made a second order of masks because I was so impressed with my first order. I have sent private messages to a couple of the creators but I have not ever heard back from them. Images of the masks are linked to below.

Kanohi Ignika, Mask of Life
Two people have taken on this one, but neither of them has actually come close to what it really looks like (although I did order both of them already, to see what they're like). The mask can be seen in this video with a camera rotating around it to give a full 3D view. The only thing it's missing is an axle-connector. https://youtu.be/83rxA_E3bWc?t=7m3s
I also made the video into a GIF, although I can't figure out how to download it from this site. https://gifyoutube.com/gif/Krw87w

I would like to hear of paid work for modelling projects.

I worked as a senior developer on Parasolid which is the core geometric engine in high end modellers like Solidworks and Unigraphics, if you run these modellers then you have run on my code.

I have a keen engineering background, my shop includes several lathes and mills and I am in the middle of a self build CNC router table

I can work in C++ and C# and can write small apps to directly produce OBJ/STL models for specialist ( sometime a dedicated app with a few parameters tuned to a certain type of product can be preferable to a generic modeller ).

Because I understand whats under the hood I have a very deep understanding of solid modelling operations - if you know the code then you have a deep undestanding of how to use the code and how to use it cleanly and efficiently.

I would not prove hugely expensive, I am in a comfortable position and choose to work at what I enjoy as much for the fun as for the financial reward.

I have experience of all the usual freebie mesh modellers and rendering apps.

Let me know if you think you need my experience.

Jonnie

Hello I was wondering if there was anyone on here that could do a 3D model for me of the figure listed below(images). I wanted him to be 6.5 inches tall from the top of his crown, to his feet. I also wanted him to have articulation at the following places-Head(full 360 degrees), Arms(full 360 degrees), Arms(Bending at Elbow), & Fists(full 360 degrees) Thats it! It doesn't seem like it would be that big of a hassle besides this figure isn't extremely detailed as it is unless you consider his scaly texture. If you also watch the video provided, its actually quite simple to add ball and socket joints to the model as there is a lot of different joints to choose from, already made in ZSketch! That is why I didn't think it would make a huge different to add articulation to the 3D model price wise. I can't find this figurine anywhere as it came out in the late 90s and is very rare! I am currently a student so I do not have a ton of money so hopefully someone is able to do it without a problem. I posted a post similar to this several days ago of this character but it was more complex(detail wise) and many people wanted hundreds of dollars. I'm hopefully this figure is very simple to replicate and doesn't cost a lot. Thanks!

P.S - I was planning on 3D printing him on Vinyl PVC like material

Hi!

Currently looking for a NYC-based designer/modeler to be part of a viral social experiment adventure.

Ideally, we'd be looking for someone who would like to join a fun team of creative hobbyists.

We're not really looking for a hire, as this is a for-fun project. But it's an opportunity to do some really cool work with a project that will likely catch a lot of internet buzz.

More info upon request!

Thanks!

I am looking for a 3D designer who can design me a model for an old Flandria Whippet motorcycle from the 60-70's. It's an old type motorcycle originally produced in Belgium.

I want a scale model of this motorcycle to be 3D printed and sent to my home adress in the Netherlands. I've tried looking for a scale model (miniature) online but without luck.. so i've decided to get one built for me with this new technology.

Here are some demands I have for this model for the eventual 3D printing:
I want the model to be as detailed as possible, the eventual size doesn't really matter as long as it is about 15cm (length), 10cm (width) and 15cm (height). Being a little bit smaller or larger than those dimensions is no problem.

I would also prefer the material to be something mettalic (which i could also easily paint),.. if not possible then i would like it to be the default bio-plastic stuff which i could paint on.

Here is a link to some pictures of what i would want:
http://imgur.com/a/PuZ20

Other than ther ones above i have no further demands. I do realize that the pictures are of diffirent kinds of the same motorcycles so slight changes could appear, but the artist can decide what looks best on the model, as long as the general details look good.

This project holds great sentimental value to me which i am willing to pay for, but to avoid insane costs I would love to receive an estimate of the modeling cost and (if possible) the printing cost estimate in your response.

My name is Gabe Mangold and today I am in need of 3D designs for my invention, The ENIpick. The purpose of the ENIpick is to allow any guitarist to seamlessly transition from standard plectrum playing to thumbpick playing. Standard thumbpicks can feel awkward and do not offer the precision or comfort of tortex, jazz, and other popular plectrums. The ENIpick solves this by allowing the player to insert their preferred plectrum, making standard picking as comfortable as it usually is while adding to option to pluck with all 4 remaining fingers, as opposed to only having 3 available if you were holding a pick. My designs are in their infancy and I'm in need of assistance fine tuning them. The pictures exceeded the file limit for this email so I've linked a couple downloads:

Design 1, illustrates front, back, side, and bottom views.

A few picks that the device needs to be able to support.
http://www.mediafire.com/view/1ihovbx0cdlhurf/pick_size_char t.jpg

The idea with this design is to have 'arms' on either side of the thumb wrap that will clamp the pick into place. It must be able to firmly hold picks as small as .50mm and as thick as 1.4mm. The edges of the arms should bevel inwards to offer an ergonomic feel for the thumb and forefinger. The goal of this device is to be able to insert any pick into it without having to feel any part of the device. It should feel as if you are just holding the pick. This is the current issue I have with the design and I'm open to prototype a few different ideas. The parts of this device are very small, with extremely small gaps inbetween the clamps, hopefully it can be designed and printed.

The material needs to be able to grip and clamp the pick firmly, while still being flexible enough to expand to hold the larger picks.

I'm very excited to begin work on this, please let me know if you need more pictures or information from me and what your rates are. The best was to contact me is via email at: delusionsofgrandeur22@gmail.com but messaging through here is fine as well.

Thanks and hope to hear back soon!

Hi everyone!

I'm very new to the 3D space but excited to play around. For my first project, I created a voxel model of a pixel character. I hollowed it out within the voxel editor but I KNOW there's tons of room for improvement, mainly because the similar size models I've seen for sale here come out cheaper than the automated system is telling me. I'd love to squeeze as much as I can out of it.

So, I was wondering if a kind soul had some time to help me thin out my walls and create the proper sized escape hole and such? A few lines about the method/process and program used would be very much appreciated so I can teach myself, but a final result done the right way would be a great example for me to reverse engineer.

I used Qubicle, and the only export that I could get to properly display the texture was .dae I've attached a .zip of the model and texture here.

Thank you!

EDIT: Never mind! With some hard research and some even greater advice, I've figured it out!

i previously asked about this locomotive before, but i didnt have any time to focus on the project and now i am ready to do it again.

it would help a lot if the designer has knowledge of n scale locomotives.

the shell i would like to have designed is the p32ac-dm: http://subwaynut.com/amtrak/albany/albany28.jpg

this locomotive basically has the same shape as the p42 (made by kato: http://katousa.com/N/P42/index.html) but with many exterior differences.

i have a shell of a p42 ( http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7138/8165729794_bb26805072.jpg) that i can ship to the designer that would help greatly with the shells inside structure.

How long have you been employed as a 3D designer?

What was your major in college?

What is it like in the environment you work?

What kind salary could I start out with in a 3D designing career?

What skills and programs should I know before going into the 3D designing field?

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a modeler to work on a prop from the old 1989 Batman movie.

This would need to be 1/1 scale and as accurate as possible, it also needs spliting into sections for optimal printing in PLA on a Makerbot Replicator 2.

I have attached a couple of pictures although I have many more, I also have a 1/6th scale model that will be useful for more detail and sizing.
I will stress again that accuracy is the most important requirement, I am in no rush to have this finished.

I am looking for quotes, please could you either PM me or email me at ( krispoppleton at yahoo.co.uk )

Thanks

Kris
