i am on the look out for a plastic material to print that can be galvanized usually the plastics that can be galvanized are the following: abs novudur p2 mc abs pc t45 polyamid minlon 73m40 and i also know that objet is supposed to have an option. anyone that has experience with this ? that has galvanized a shapeways material ? or galvanized a 3d print ?
Why do you want to galvanise plastic? AIUI galvanising is an method of protecting steel by dipping it into molten zinc. Or did you mean something else?
maybe im translating it directly from German ? i want to achieve a chrome finish on my printed models much like a chromed plastic car logo thanks for correcting me ! any ideas ?
What you are looking for is called vacuum plating or vacuum metalising. The companies who use this technique should be able to give you more information of the types of plastics required.
