I've got another model and I can't get Shapeways to recognize I've hollowed it.
I've attached the file I'm using. There are 3 Ellipsoids inside the model that I'd use for hollowing, and a large cylinder to serve as the passage way to the hollow spots. Whenever I can get 3DS max to make the passage (which it doesn't like doing; it'll make the hollow space simple enough), Shapeways will only recognize the subtraction of the cylinder and not the interior ellipsoids.

You've got a small six-sided pyramid inside the file that is not a closed object. I think if you remove that, you may be able to upload the file.
