| Resizing a model to fit printer capacity [message #46723] Tue, 10 April 2012 11:01 UTC |

Hello,
I am new to 3D printing.
If I have a model (STL) with dimensions e.g. 25cm x 25cm x 25cm, and a printer whose capacity is LESS than the model size:
Can the printer automatically rescale it?
Or do I need to rescale the model using third party software before printing?
Thanks for any help.
David

Hi David,
Welcome to Shapeways!
You'll need to re-scale your model before uploading.
I recommend you get yourself a free copy of NetFabb Basic, you'll be able to rescale your model as well as error check, repair and measure your model to ensure it complies with your chosen material design rules. Have a browse through the links at the bottom of every page for tutorials and materials etc.
