no model download with firefox

I registered today and in my introduction post i asked how to download a free model, because i could not succeed in doing just that.
I followed the advice (did all the steps again, because i tried it before) but again it went wrong.


here is what happens when I use Firefox 8.0
I start by loggin in

i click a free model and i get the option of selecting a format,
after that i click 'download' which leads me to a blank browser page, and nothing happens ...

In IE all goes intuitive, there is no format option
i click 'download' and Windows gives me the popup which asks me to open or savet the stl-zip. no problem then.

is shapeways incompatible with my version of FF?

Which model did you try? I just tried on FF8 and instantly got a save dialog.

it's funny, i directly tried to reproduce the fault, but it took a while untill i saw where the crux lies

it looks as if it happens (only?) with all the models in the category 'Hobby - 3D down-loadable parts'

i did encounter my problem when trying to download 'BrandingIron basic part', but i got the format option and blank screen also with other models from this category, so i guess it is the same problem for all the models there
