This is in WSF? I hadn't realised how porous the prints were until I saw the paint tutorial. Did you flood with a thin cyano or try to 'skin' with a thicker gel?
Great idea.

Hi buho29,
really love your project.
I really like RC helicopters also and are curious what the base of your project is.
best regards,
Peter

Amazing project! Are the rotor head parts, swash plate etc all injection molded parts, or a Shapeways detail material?

now there will be no update with Shapeways
I tested my gear is a disaster , I wasted 28$
I tried another service print 3d
without a direction control I not recommend printed mechanical parts (frame included) , in Z circle is an oval 0.3-0.5mm
it's a shame, printed in the good direction the piece are very well

Hey Buho,
thanks for the feedback. Pitty the gear did not work. This is one of my favorite projects (i have a r/c heli as well)
Perhaps we can make it up to you?
I will have the service team contact you.
best regards,
Peter

This obsession for heli I think the movie E.T has made ravages in my childhood
I building my piece has a higher axis Z (20cmx20cmx6mm) and I ordered two piece because I thought were good orientation (the same gear breaks easily with plastic injected into the accident),
it's only allowed see that the gear is a good solution (the ratio is different to that of the manufacturer)
if could found a solution for printing orientation
I opened a thread on the topic if the team can bring anything I'd be very happy

thanks this reponse

Hi Buho29
I am sorry to hear that your models were printed in the wrong direction for you. In the near future we hope to offer our customers the possibility to choose the direction of the printed models. Also when too many models are put in one frame (1 STL with models connected to each other) we have to look of the model still fits in the horizontal direction.
Our service team will contact you how we can come to a solution, for you case. Hopefully you will consider your opinion about Shapeways and will this help you with further 3D printing.

nice new! : D
there is a planned release date?
my opinion the Shapeways is very good (hard to get a better service) the problem of orientation is varied result in my case I can not use the piece (must say that my model is quite special)
I received a voucher 28$ (thanks), was not necessary

Beautiful detailed engineering, Buho.
I have also had issues with unfavorable print orientation.
