Where do I begin, I'm on a Mac

  1. I was planning to make a very small sailboat and I found this place. Now I want to make a hull form, possibly to use as a mold for a fiberglass hull.

Does anyone have advice on the least expensive software I can use on a Mac?

I have Boot Camp on one of my Macs but I really don't like the Windows environment and only use it for flight sims. Not a Mac snob, but I'd rather not get software that I can only use on one of my older Macs running a bare bones version of windows 7.

  3. Thanks Duann,

I'll probably download Rhino and Sketchup later today.

I like building things and I like the idea of building something on a computer. No waste and you never run out of something you need. (except sleep)

Wow impressive! For large hull parts you may consider CNC in wood or foam then you can glass or carbon resin the forms to the hull plates.

    See some examples here: http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/materials/

Welcome and show us some progress, very good modelers on here with 3D and CAD/CAM or CNC experience!

I have not ventured off my PC back to my Mac for 3D yet...maybe soon?
