    L.C.C. Tram No.1 ASSEMBLY ADVICE
NOTE: The material is very hard & does not sand or file easily. Any small ridges are easiest dealt
with by filling & then sanding.
Canopy glue recommended for fixing glazing. Epoxy suggested for all the rest.
    1. Drill appropriately sized holes for trolley poles & handrails.( none of these are supplied). Check
holes in lower deck floor & truck fixing strip are correct for 12BA bolts ( suggest that the holes in
truck fixing strip give easy clearance of the bolts) & for the 6BA bolts on the trucks. Enlarge as
necessary. A 2.5mm diameter hole has been provided in the centre of lower & upper deck floors to
facilitate the wiring for live overhead. If you are not using live overhead you may wish to fill these
holes now. Separate the 2 controllers,2 cab partitions & the side & front lifeguards, The lifeguard
supports are slightly overlength & will need to be shortened when fitting them.
    2. Clean model ensuring any material left over from the manufacturing process is removed from
    holes & crevices.
    3. Paint all parts of model on both sides. Acrylic or enamel paints are both O.K. NOTE: the material
is quite porous & absorbs much of the first coat(s) of paint. Before painting check fit of parts. It
may be advisable to not paint surfaces to be glued together if there is a tight fit..
    4. Measure & cut all glazing .Fit glazing..
    5. Insert six 12BA bolts (not supplied) through lower deck floor & glue heads to upper surface of
    floor.
    6. Glue lower deck floor, seats & stairs ( all one unit) to lower deck . Ensure seats face towards
    raised step.
    7. Fix brake standards ( not supplied) & controllers to cab floors.
    8. Glue both cab partitions in place.
    9. Fit trucks ( not supplied) in place on truck fixing strip provided. Place strip in recess under floor
& fix in place with the 12BA bolts previously inserted through floor. The strip is intentionally
deeper than the recess. This step may be left to last if you wish.
    10. Place lower deck ceiling/upper deck floor & seating in place, glueing the sides of the ceiling to
the lower deck sides after checking the fit of the upper deck .Ensure seats are facing towards closed
    door.
    11. Form trolley pole hooks & fit in place on roof. Note that roof has small slots for fixing trolley
    pole hooks
    12. Glue upper deck to lower deck.
    13. Fix roof to upper deck & fit trolley poles ( not supplied) to roof.
    14. Fit lifeguards. There are small apertures for them under the car & on the platform steps
Trucks ( C8) & trolley poles are available from Terry Russell Trams.
