Hello shapeways community! I'm new in the shapeways community and I was wondering which material is the strongest? I was looking to buy a mountain bike stem and I thought that it would be awesome if I design my own and have it printed. My main concern about printing my own is will it be strong enough for mountain bike application? I do some high speed downhill and occasionally do jumps or drops so safety is my priority. Also another factor is price. Hopefully it's not too expensive. Thank you!
No. Don't do it. Shapeways prints are "for decorative purposes only". THEY ARE NOT FOR LIFE-THREATENING SITUATIONS! None of the materials are strong enough tor you to risk your life with a part that might break. Not Bicycles, not Motorcycles, not Automobies, not Pogo-Sticks.
