Dye Black

Discussion in 'Finishing Techniques' started by 778798_deleted, Jun 8, 2015.

  1. I have a functional piece printed in white & flexible, dyed black. To repair minor scratches and dings has anyone tried the black tee shirt type dye?

Shapeways won't release their dye because of proprietary reasons...even though the dye cost me $1 extra in printing each piece...this is no biggie. This kind of leaves me in a bind when a customer cosmetically damages the product.

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Larry

I've tried color fabric markers that work reasonably well. It's also a lot less messy!

Sharpies work well for me for quick color on WSF or touch-ups on BSF.

  4. I am just doing some experimenting with making white sls parts black and I'm trying Carton Stencil ink in black

    SP3108. Purchased from McMaster Carr

So far the results are very promising. After spraying I dried the parts in an oven. I think they could benefit from a coat of poly urethane or something in a matte finish.

    Might give this a try.
