Formatting in descriptions?

  1. Alright, I feel dumb, but my search-fu is failing me.
When I type up the descriptions for items in my shop, I've so far kept it simple. Line breaks, put a blank line between relevent stuff, and hit 'save'. And it looks good in the box there.
But then when I actually view the item, it compacts it all into one block paragraph.
I haven't even been able to find if I'm supposed to use HTML formatting or what.
    Gah,

You can use html commands like <br> to go to the next line. That's pretty much all I've been using, with the possible exception of an html link command here and there.

I think you can also use a rich text editor and cut and paste that into the description box, but don't hold me to that.

You need to write description in Html 1.0 format ... like @draw pointed out.

I suggest typing it up in a word document first and just copying and pasting it into the description box because going in and out of that box, I've found, mangles the HTML after a while.

Other tools like <h1> <h2> and <h3> are your friends (headers) as is <font color="(color name or hex code)"> </font>. Don't forget to make use of <em> and <b>.

  5. Thanks, guys! I couldn't find anything that even mentioned those.

The format is Rich Text. I like using this Rich Text editor. Although, a HTML editor or Word or Open Office will work very well for most codes.
