The 3D print quality is amazing! ( still waiting for my full color Apple Apps coaster https://www.shapeways.com/model/102905/icoasters_of_apple_app s.html ) This new design is a pocket AC charger for your iPhone. https://www.shapeways.com/model/108197/icharge___pocket_wall_ charger_for_iphone.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O25rYIZHBTE Where ever you are.. when ever you have low battery on your iPhone... simply pull this compact charger from your pocket , insert it to any outlet , place your iPhone or iPod Touch on top and let it charge while resting backwards on the wall. No need to carry a bulk charger and an annoying USB cable...while outdoors. There are 2 moving parts in this design. The 0.6 mm gap made sure they wont fuse with the model & stay loose to swivel. The connector holder swivel 10 degrees backwards. Once i'm done with the electronics assembly i will post some more pics. Hi All, I'm very excited to show you the final result for the iCharge - a pocket wall charger for my iPhone - iPod Touch. I assembled the 2 electronics boards inside , welded the connector and the whole thing is closed tightly in its 3D printed casing. This is how this NEW unseen before product looks like: What you guys think? It's an interesting design and congrats with the nice looking results. But I don't have a single socket at my home, or at my work, or anywhere I know actually, that could accept this plug without some extra adapter. Most power sockets here are sunk by approx 2cm into the wall and that would make them unreachable by the shortie pins of your adapter. well i designed it for my country's socket http://www.firstline.co.il/shoeLargePic.asp?pic=680-861_big. JPG I know different EU countries have that socket you showed and of course it wont work with this design. But... perhaps if i were to design 2 horizontal power rods rather then vertical as it is right now that would enable larger rods that can reach the inside of your socket. something like in my first concept: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PW6H7n-9r60
Pin lenghts problems aside, I'd prefer a vertical design, indeed. Mostly because it wouldn't make me remove plugs from all neighbouring sockets
I didnt quite catch that What i meant was the rods will each swivel horizontally, this way any EU socket will fit this charger because of the larger rods. I will look into it. Thanks for that input
Cool design and congrats on it! -- but the USA has a wall charger about 1x1x1 inch all around that fits in a socket and is easily if not more portable then this, I can't see myself using it
A 1x1x1 inch charger is a bit thick to carry in your pocket.. plus you do need to carry a USB cable as well. At the moment this prototype is 20mm thick , with 2 mm wall thickness - i believe i can reduce it even more. It's one unit. compact and fold-able. ready to charge your iphone where ever you are within city limits. BTW, i'm amazed how small the electronics boards are.. it outputs regulated 5V 800ma (very impressive power) and not getting hot non what so ever. very cool! If i find an even smaller board i would go with my first design instantly (see youtube link above) - it received nice reviews on 2 iphone websites (of course i plugged shapeways.com as always.. letting every one know about this great service) Thanks for your input

When can we see an American version? Seeing my car charger broke the other day I considered taking it apart to make something like this specifically for my car. I have 2 outlets. One on the dash where I have my radar detector, and one in my center console, which likes to break the cables if you close it wrong on the cable. I just now got an idea, I wonder how feasible it would be...
Oh.. i wish there was a way for a joint-partnership with shapeways for mass producing of an idea and marketing it.. Right now all i can sell you is the plastic casing Or if you are a DIY... perhaps also the electronics boards and assembly instructions .. but that's not a feasible method , i tried it with my iSolar Pad for iPhone... https://www.shapeways.com/model/103464/isolar_pad_for_iphone. html It was too expensive for DIY's.
