Möbius moon

So apologies in advance but this will be the second of three postings as I received three separate orders in the space of 2 days! Bad planning, but so exciting!

The inspiration for this model was to try my hand at doing a möbius strip, popular items here on Shapeways. I needed a subject, so I turned to another theme popular on these pages - the moon.

So grabbing the necessary images and tooling about with Gimp and Blender for quite some time, I got the item below, which I think is pretty cool, even though I do say so myself... (I love how the shadows fall across it like the real thing).

Aha! Tweeted earlier, but worth sharing here - Möbius Moon in colour!

Uses a palette similar to that of images produced by Arizona State University using data from NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.

Wow, nice. At first I thought the color one was a fractal pattern. That might be a fun idea, too.
