Mass/weight of material?

Discussion in 'Materials' started by 525562_deleted, Mar 30, 2014.

  1. What is the approximate mass or weight of the strong flexible plastic and stainless steel?
    units: grams/cm^3 or lbs/in^3

    Density of "stainless" probably varies a bit due to variable sintering and bronze infusion - this posting (retrievable via the forum search function) suggests 3.8g/ccm as the approximate value.

    I just weighed two of the same steel models I have hanging about.
    Volume = 3.0280cm3
    Steel colour = 24.4g (~8g/cc)
    Bright bronze colour = 25.9g (~8.6g/cc)

    Just about any metal asides from Al will be more than 3.8g/cc

    Eek, indeed I should have noticed that what I quoted could not be correct - I guess shapeways' Youknowhow4eva meant to write 8.3
