Image popper

  1. Shapeways used to let you put a base rectancle of material behind a popped 2D image. I need to makr stamps out of 2D images. Any ideas on how to do that?

The only current way to do this is to add a grey background to your image. I've requested that this option be brought back.

But will it be thick enough with grey?

The image popper linearly maps the brightness of your image to thickness. So, if you set a 3mm thickness in total, 100% black = 3mm thick. Use a 50% black background for a 1.5mm thick back plate etc.

To be 100% sure, you can download the model and measure it in NetFabb :)

It's not often that I know something that you don't, so I couldn't let that opportunity pass ;)
