What's more translucent of the two frosted plastics?

It is difficult to answer this question, because transparency depends a lot on your polishing skills. Have a look at what can be done is Transparent Detail (not frosted) here:

All what I can say is that FD seems to me more yellowish than FUD.

So many things to design, so little time...

FUD and FD are the same material built on the same machines. The only difference is the resolution.
