Need Someone to Make Blender File Usable with 3D Printer

Discussion in '3D Design Requests' started by 256318_deleted, Jan 2, 2013.

  1. We have models of our products in Blender that are very very VERY detailed. We need someone with both 3D printing and Blender experience to simplify our models so they would work well with a 3D printer. As they stand now, our models are way too complex for this purpose. And we have no experience working with 3D printers and their limitations. Anyone who is interested must be able to submit invoices for payment via PayPal and must have samples of previous work that we can reference.

The cutting edge professional 3d Printers can handle very complex details. The selection of material and the 3D printed machine process is a big factor. What size/scale are you looking to have it printed at ?

  3. Our first thought is to produce a "carry-able" scale of perhaps 8 to 10 inches for the longest side for marketing purposes.. But we are also interested in larger sizes to for more technical and engineering prototype uses. We really need someone to help us understand the level of detail we would be able to achieve and the cost penalty for increasing model detail and size. We also would like to know how colors and textures could be applied to make it look as realistic as possible.

Depending on your budget ... a full scale model could be achieved given the 3d printer has the build space capacity. Other methods may be less expensive. As for the wood surrounding the product you would have to manufacture a prototype of the actual wood material that would be used in the real world environment.. Not sure what material and texture you are trying to achieve to the interior.

You would be wise to look at the materials that are available. https://www.shapeways.com/materials Once there choose a material it wll show you the Material Overview and the Design Guidelines. For a high detail there is Strong & Flexible Plastic, Fine Detail Plastic and Frosted Detail Plastic. Each one has a different Max Bouding Box size. If you wanted it in full colour there is Full Color Sandstone. Max Bounding Box: is250x380x200mm
