Yesterday I got my pine cones in the mail! Just in time for people to order them for Christmas (I hope). I used the Fibonacci sequence to make these... I got the idea after watching one of ViHart's awesome videos on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahXIMUkSXX0 She has lots of cool math stuff. So today I went out to look for some pine branches (apparently you're officially not allowed to pick em in the woods. 74 Euro fine if they catch you). I ended up buying some from a very fancy garden centre for 3 euros. Then spent half the day trying to figure out the correct settings on my mobile phone's camera. At 15:00 I had the first acceptable photo... finally... only for the sun to completely disappear (almost like nightfall)... So I guess this is the one... unless I get some good light tomorrow! BTW... Whoa Red is a hard colour to photograph! I think I will stick with basic white next time! Oh here's the page in my shop: https://www.shapeways.com/model/769962/christmas_pine_cone_de coration.html
Ok so.. today the sun was out and I figured I'd do some other photos... but... well have a look. Which do you like better... the photo in the first post or this? With the direct sunlight the contrast is much higher, and the colours more vibrant... but maybe it's a bit much?
Thanks... My girlfriend agrees... I made the second one the photo I use as the main image for the product. Taking pictures to nicely represent products is hard! Maybe I'll invest in some nice lights someday. My phone takes ok pics... it's the lighting that takes forever to get right.
