| Completely new to this, looking for some help to 3D model a pretty simple, cylindrical movie prop [message #56127] Sun, 28 October 2012 22:36 UTC |

Hey everyone,
I am new here. I make movie props in my spare time, and was looking into a certain lightsaber from the Star Wars saga in the 1970s and 80s.
This prop was milled on a lathe, and cast in solid aluminum. I don't have access to either of these, so I'm looking to shapeways -
I can't imagine this could be complicated, all I have however are blueprints - diagrams with measurements. I have NO idea how to work a 3D modeling program, so I have nothing to submit for a price quote. Any help!?

The part in the middle of the body is actually a Graflex Press Camera flash clamp - so that section would just be a couple mm smaller diameter (for the clamp to sit flush with the body.
(in metal)
with one of these attached (I have one, so All I'm looking for is the body)

Thank you, Thank you!
