Warning on check - what does it mean? [message #53064] Fri, 24 August 2012 12:34 UTC |

A quick question...
My file checks ok for watertight
But... I get this flag
I don't have a clue what it is referring to or how to fix it?
Any ideas, suggestions?

O.o I've never seen that one! I'll see if I can figure out what it means.

Thanks...
This was done in AccuTrans 3D
I also use netfab and meshlab.
I am a digital 2D artist and have done magazine, publication and card art for over 40 years - went all digital in 94 and have made use of 3d in many illustrations... 3D printing remains a mystery. I have done some successfully, but it always seems to be a crap shoot
Thanks for your feedback... will check back to see what you come up with
One of several prototype concepts =
(not trying to print this.. not the model I was checking)

Hi Nate,
The error means that model is error prone, so it could not be fixed by mesh medic.
I've no experience with AccuTrans, but Rhino has some good ways to point out when an STL is not going to be able to be printed, including naked edges and non manifold edges.
Blender will display problem areas too - this tutorial might be helpful:

Maybe another designer on the site could help you too?
Good Luck!

It doesn't mean anything apart from the local axis of the mesh is within the mesh - i.e. if the local axis is +10 on the x axis within the mesh, there woulde be a vertex at -10 compared to the local axis.
Models with this warning from Accutrans3D when exporting as stl upload and print just fine - I use Accutrans3D all the time.

Thanks folks....
I'm up and running now
took the model made in zBrush into Hexagon, decimated it to a manageable size, ran it through mesh lab and it is in the shop now
