How do I create mesh looking patterns on objects (easily)? Is it something I can do in solidworks like a fill pattern that lets me change the entire solids surface? Do I need to do the pattern manually in solidworks, or do I need to use additional software to add it on later?
I have attached a sample of the mesh. This is not at all what I am modeling but I have no clue how to create these patterns. They are sort of wireframes, or coral looking patterns...
I also use Solidworks and have been searching for a way to do this for a while now. (I actually just opened my own thread asking) I have asked on the Solidworks forum and the common consensus seems to be... you can't... at least not in Soldiworks.
The best suggestion that I've had so far is to load the model into Rhino3D and using a plugin called grasshopper you can create this mesh. This is whats I believe is used on a large number of Shapeways models.
The other suggestion I have had is to open the model in NetFab and use 3S (Selective Space Structures) to create a meshed object... however opening my version of NetFab (basic) im yet to find any mention of this tool. (and I find the netfab website infuriatingly complicated.)
