Saved the file as .dae with the 'Quads' flag unchecked and now it has imported....

No idea what any of this means, but I hope this helps someone else with a similar problem....

The problem is, you have lines on the faces between the three small openings on both sides, that are not required.
They are creating faces on top of faces. Which confuses Shapeways software.
They will show up in Netfabb as blue and red stripes.
Delete all extra lines

this is strange, I do not see any such lines

what I did was to import it into Accutrans and that seemed to fix it....

thx for looking into this anyway.

I will bear your suggestion in mind for future variations...

I don't know what software you used to create the model. I imported the DAE into Sketchup. Here is a screenshot
If you did use Sketchup. It would be wise to export as STL, instead of DAE.

@innerbreed. Just scale by 25.4 It is 1.5mm thick

I think the answer to the visibility of the extra lines in Sketchup is when the model is exploded.
View - Edge style - Edges - Ticked. Shows the lines. Un-Ticked hides them
That is when Profiles are ticked

Here is that link to export as STL. You will have less problems than exporting as a DAE.
