Sculptris is for sculpting models. Shapeways is for printing them. There are creators available such as the ShapeMe that you could use on Shapeways that all you need to do is upload pictures.

Life drawing classes are a good place to start if you want to do figure work -- and what could be simpler than pencil and paper.....
