I would love to see Shapeways explore the possibility of using Argentium Silver to replace the existing sterling silver material. This is .935 pure as opposed to .925, and it replaces some of the copper with a metalloid germanium. So, while it is still technically sterling silver the one great aspect is that it is extremely tarnish resistant.
I don't know too much about the cost other than Argentium silver jewellery is generally a bit more expensive.
