Hello,
I'm getting some parts to print, but before I do I need to
know the some fundamentals of fitting 2 parts together.
First I need to know how much material is polished off
when using polished parts (white strong flexible).
Second -What kind of fit would you get if the inside of
the OUTSIDE part is the same as the outside of the
INSIDE part, like one cylinder sliding into another?
Seems to me there's two types of fit-
press fit -where the parts "stick".
free fit- where the parts move freely within a tolerance.
Some guidelines would be appreciated.
Thanks
Scott
It really all depends on which material you are using. Check out the material guidelines for individual material tolerances. The polished material is intended to only take of the extended ridges so not much at all. The Mad Moder

If you follow the design rules for WSF, they will be the same for Polished - as both parts will undergo the same polishing process so the minor surface treatment they undergo will be the same for both.
Hence, if they fit together before polishing, they will fit together afterwards.Community Manager | Shapeways
