Resin would make a great addition to the different lines of plastic available. It is durable, smooth and offers a high amount of detail than many other 3d printed materials. It is a material used in a large variety of toys and figurines outside of 3d printing and would be a material our customers would be able to associate with.

why or why not would you like resin as a printing material?

There are many resins, so which one? One that cracks if not fiber glass reinforced? Foam type resins? Solid? Those three are pretty common in wargames (polyester, polyurethane foam and solid).
Resin is a too wide term (and so is wax, the other long standing missing material), and unrelated to smoothness. When asking for a material, the best is to ask for what it has to do, not what it is. Specially since part of the equation is the machine, not only the material.

true, very true.
I was thinking along the lines of polyjet resin. As seen by these and a few other printing sites: http://www.redeyeondemand.com/PJ_VeroWhite.aspx
I would love to be able to have something strong and smooth for my dolls, to reflect their counterparts which are casted by molds from clay sculptures.

SW has something with verowhite QED the problem is not just a material, but also what is done with it. SW seems to print in speed mode and offer no postprocessing (some materials can be treated to improve strenght and temperature limits).
