Hey shapers,

Correct me if i'm wrong.. when you order a model from
shapeways your self you get an instant receipt email plus
another one from PayPal.

Yet as a shop owner i get the "Yippee! You've sold a model"
email only 4-5 business days AFTER order was made by
customer... Crying or Very Sad

If an order was a Co-creator you then get an instant email
letting you know of that new sale + the need for you to re-model
your model according to customer request ..

What I'd like to ask is why the delay notifying emails with regular sales?

Every e-biz novice knows you have to correlate sales with your
recent promotion attempts - be it a review made to your model,
a post you made on a certain forum or if you shared your model
on stumbleupon , digg, services etc...

This way you know where the sales might have come from to
calculate your sales ratio from that source of traffic and perhaps
make changes to your promotional efforts.

I was lucky to get few "Yippee!"s this month for my stand for
iPad:

But i cant tell where the sales came from...
Its important for me to know for ex if traffic from this review on
unplggd.com made me some sales ...

If I'm not mistaken, the yippee mails are sent when objects actually go into production. Not when ordered. For co-creators this is of course different, since it needs input.

You can see an up-to-date status report in your order overview.
on your profile page)

I myself would love to see time of purchase and country of buyer in my overviews.

Virtox is completely right. We do this just so that you don't get dissapointed should your model not be printable.

I completly agree , only i whish there was a way to balance between the 2 aproches , perhaps an email "You've just sold model X - we will check to see if its OK to be 3D printed and let you know shortly when its gone to production"

rather then knowing about the sale 4-5 days later..?

We could put that in a poll and ask it of people or something like that. I don;t think it really matters to us we just do it for your convenience.
