Just recieved my latest order.
The turnaround animation platform ! =D
It´s composed of 6 parts: Legs 4x , base and the gear. The gear has 58 tooths and is moved one at a time. After each move a picture is taken, then composed as an animation. It is bit slow process, but it gives the opportunity to make an animation of an object in good lighting wihout hands or other distracting elements showing. This is just a test, wich I put up quite fast after I got the parts in my hand.
you can see the slot where the gear is moved in the lower right corner. I used a pen to move them since it´s quite small.
The dragon is 3,7cm tall.
I used Gimp and Blender to combine the pictures as an animation.
I´ll post pictures of the platform and the other objects later.
See the animation here:

here´s the camera setup I used:

Pretty cool idea. Now the real hit would be if it rotated and released the shutter automatically

Yeah I wish!
I mainly wanted to make it as simple as possible, without too many moving parts.
But everything is possible

Indeed it is! I had some scrap parts lying around and they have naturally assembled themselves into this ;) Thanks for the idea!

Good mechanism, wonderful decorations!!
This has other applications, apart from animations: 3-D scanning!! There's software available which will convert your image sequence into a 3-D mesh.
Also, some museums are recording detailed photosets of irreplaceable items using this kind of idea.

Hmm... 3D-scanning you say?
Do you know the programs name or a website perhaps? Sounds very interesting.
