Just recieved my latest order.

The turnaround animation platform ! =D
It´s composed of 6 parts: Legs 4x , base and the gear. The gear has 58 tooths and is moved one at a time. After each move a picture is taken, then composed as an animation. It is bit slow process, but it gives the opportunity to make an animation of an object in good lighting wihout hands or other distracting elements showing. This is just a test, wich I put up quite fast after I got the parts in my hand.

you can see the slot where the gear is moved in the lower right corner. I used a pen to move them since it´s quite small.

The dragon is 3,7cm tall.

I used Gimp and Blender to combine the pictures as an animation.
I´ll post pictures of the platform and the other objects later.

See the animation here:

here´s the camera setup I used:

Great Job !

What i noticed & liked is how you cut cost on your model
by "hollowing" the base and gear.

Large print demands it. very cool Cool

Finally I got time to take some photos.

It was a great sensation to notice, that all parts fit together as intended, with a satisfying "click" sound Very Happy
Only the clips needed some knifework, since they were bit too close to the base.

Thanks for comments, i´ll post some better animations soon.

Bits´n pieces:

Here you can see the rails I put in to reduce friction and to make the movement smoother.

The leg slots. Each of them have small clips to keep the leg in place. Even they have small holes to lower the cost Razz

And here´s the rest of the order.

A hook for clohes in Aluminium and WSF blue and a toothbrush holder in WSF blue also.

Whole set. the toothbrush holder is perhaps abit too long. We´ll see after i´ve used it a few weeks. Get the toothbrush holder here http://www.shapeways.com/model/97466/toothbrush_holder.html

I´ll have to test how much weight this can hold, but it feels very sturdy. Get the hook here http://www.shapeways.com/model/94278/wall_hook.html

Pretty cool idea. Now the real hit would be if it rotated and released the shutter automatically Wink

Yeah I wish! Razz
I mainly wanted to make it as simple as possible, without too many moving parts.
But everything is possible Wink

But everything is possible ;)

Indeed it is! I had some scrap parts lying around and they have naturally assembled themselves into this ;) Thanks for the idea!

Oo
Now that was neat! Exactly what i was aiming for, but i don´t have electronic skills. maybe I´ll ask my brother, if he can make me something like that, using my platform as a base structure.

It´s great to see things evolve Cool

Good mechanism, wonderful decorations!!

This has other applications, apart from animations: 3-D scanning!! There's software available which will convert your image sequence into a 3-D mesh.

Also, some museums are recording detailed photosets of irreplaceable items using this kind of idea.

Hmm... 3D-scanning you say? Twisted Evil
Do you know the programs name or a website perhaps? Sounds very interesting.
