Does a piece of software exist that can shell a 3d model (making it hollow and giving a constant wall thickness of say 1mm)?

I the past on simple models I have just created another scaled down version of the model inside the main one to make a hollow (like putting a small cube inside a larger one), but this doesnt work on more complaicated models.

can anyone shed any light on this please?

Many 3d apps have modifiers/scripts or plugins for shelling.
Perhaps google knows if blender has something like that.

You could do it manually by a grow/shrink or push/pull modifier.
Or even extruding all polygons group-wise.

What software do you use ?

I know that ViaCad can do it, and shelling the model is already in the ViaCad Shapeways tutorial.

I work here
KeyCreator can, has a shelling tool, you just specify the wall thickness. I always use .04 (a little over a mm)
