Working robot hand

Hi everyone I've been working on making a functional robotic hand. Below I'll add a link to a youtube vid of it going through some servo tests.
Normal shapeways materials rules still apply.





Oh and to show that it can be painted, I gave one hand a steam punk-esque paint job with metallic enamel paints. Don't be too harsh since it's been a few years since I last painted anything like it!

This is an on going project and I plan to release upgrades as well as modular add ons, to try and extend functionality.

Any feedback from anyone else would be grateful. Any impressions. I would really like this to be successful!

I really like this, i have many sketches i have done over the years of similar designs. feedback hmmm.. maybe for the next version the fingers could have a sideways moving option, maybe two strings per finger and the fingers pivot sideways at the knuckle. and an option for the thump to pivot out the side, so the hand could be flat on a surface if wanted. also the shape of the hand (palm) more a nautral hand shape, also some flexion in the palm would be good

Hi leo, thanks for the reply. I plan to include elements such as you describe as updates later on, and hopefully much sooner than later! Alas I spent a lot of time over the last year trying to do a bit too much, as my blog can attest to. However shapeways now seems cheap enough for me to sell through them.

May I ask if anyone has been put off because screws/nuts/pins need to be acquired separately? The exact type are described in my assembly instructions here http://anthromod.com/index.php/assembly-instructions

Also any fishing line narrower than 1mm can be used for tendons.
