Hi there, thinking about starting in the 3D world

I've got a project that I am starting and it would make R&D a lot easier and faster if I could do the 3D printing myself.
So I'll ask a few questions here and see how I go.

I can say with out a doubt that getting your designs printed by shapeways is the fasted and most satisfying way to do R&D. Saves me plenty of time and effort using shapeways not to mention getting things made that i would have no other way of producing.

You could go the Makerbot/RepRap/Mendel route for an 'at home' 3D printer, cheap machines but not up to the resolution of the materials Shapeways offers ( Shapeways Grey Robust is about what you could expect) - it all depends upon what sort of accuracy you need.

The PP3DP machine seems to be able to do what I need.
