    Hello,
Is there someone that meets this message "error: class not found Udesign.applet" in trying to visualize a model in 3d ?
    This comes after updating java.
I work on vista, and all my browsers (Chrome, IE, Firefox) are bugging.
    Thanks.

I am not affiliated with Shapeways, but rather with Java. First thing I would suggest is to do a clean reinstall, i.e. unistall the current version(s) first. Download a full version. Close all browsers and then run installer. Make sure that at the end the installer asks you to associate the current version of Java being installed with your browsers. It should be aware at least about IE and FF. Then watch out in the console for any errors and post em here. To enable Java Console, go to Start->Control Pannel->Java->Advanced->Java Console->Show Console

Here is what you should see and let's compare your output with this one (a working version):

Not quite familiar with it but isn't GCJ a non-standard Java applets plugin? Could you try IE or FF with a clean Java install?

    Hi all,

I must admit we ourselves noticed also issues with the 3d viewer after upgrading to java 6.21

They must have changed something in this new version which breaks in combination with the viewer.

Amongst others I have heard Sun renamed classes :(

It is being looked at, but I don't know when we have it solved (hard to solve when Sun is making sudden changes).

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Kind regards, Arno

PS: If you didn't upgrade your Java yet to version 6.21, you might consider postponing that?

I just fixed my java applet.

    1. Downloaded java version 6.20 from here
    2. Uninstalled version 6.21 from Control Panel
    3. Closed all browsers and installed version 6.20
    4. View Shapeways in Google Chrome and the java applet is running again.
N.B. Internet Explorer still doesn't work yet.

    Hope that helps.

  11. I have tried the above listed patches and reinstalls and unfortunately nothing works as of yet. However, I was just checking back in to see if Shapeways has come up with any resolution to this issue?

    Hi,

I just wanted to let you know I have just upgraded to Java Plug-in 1.6.0_22 and for me the 3D viewer is working again.

So, yes, the 21 version was to blame ...

    Kind regards, Arno

Update: to be more accurate, the java console reports: Using JRE version 1.6.0_22-b04 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone keeps getting a pop-up when they try to view their model in 3D to downgrade the latest Java?

Thing is, I do have the latest java and the applet works fine in Internet Explorer, but in Google Chrome it asks me every single time.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I have done wrong?

    Thanks.
