For my CustoMe Necklace and probably a lot of other products here on shapeways that use multiple parts/materials it would be great to combine all parts one one product page with the option to order the parts in different material combo's, are you working on this and if not will it ever be possible ?

    Yeppp!

So this is part of 3 new features that we'd like to have sometime in the future.

    We call them

Product sets : multiple files/models in multiple materials put together into one product --a chess set with black and white pieces
Variance : multiple versions of a model that can be selected on the same product-- a ring in multiple sizes
Add-ons : anything else added on that isn't 3D printed -- earring hooks, necklace chains or custom packaging

Each of these along are really large undertakings but we've already tackled the first part, if you remember when we changed from model ids to product spins that was necessary to add another layer into the hierarchy of our system. From here we can start developing these other features to improve the way you can offer products to customers.

    Hi Andrew,

The really great features your prepare as!

I have questions about "Variance". Can designer will make easy scaling between variables of ring? As example, I upload 5 rings with 15, 17, 19, 21 and 23mm of inner size. Can buyer order 20 mm ring himself? I suggested EasyScaleTool here https://www.shapeways.com/forum/index.php?t=msg&th=28715 &start=0& This tool no need any graphic means and will easy and great for ordering any midsize variables as upscale (with k=1.xxx) from variant with nearest smaller size!

I have been requesting product sets with Shapeways since 2009. It happens on a monthly basis that a customer buys "Part 1 of 2", and does not see any of the hints in big letters in the description and on the main photo that there is also a part 2. People just click without even reading the big print. The result is customer complaints for receiving an incomplete model, and work for me and Shapeways (great) helpdesk.

So, YES, product sets are very, very welcome!

I've wished for the same thing. I finally did it myself. Here is an example of my page.
    Models
I do a lot of scales and offer models as well as sculpts. The above link is to my models in 1:20.32 scale.
    <a href="http://scalehumans.com/info?NGF+seat" target="_blank"> Figures[/url]
The above are all my seated figures in that same scale.

BTW, did you know there is something wrong with using the link object on your formatting tools?

The problem is that you used both HTML and BBcode at the same time I imagine. Try using JUST BBcode and it should work.

I used your insert link option. It did the rest.
Here is the steps you can take to try and replicate the issue.
    Mozila Fire Fox (just upgraded)
    - Reply to a post
    - type some text
    - click on insert a link icon at top of page.
    - enter a url </a>
    - click submit
    - Return page is empty
    - click on edit.
-enter the link once more <a href="http://scalehumans.com" target="_blank">sometext
    .
    - click on submit
    - Now both url's disappear because there is no text between the terminator.
    -Enter text.
    - Now message is scrambled.because the original url is turned back to BCC code with a terminator for html while the new url has html coce inserted inbetween BCC code.
Your parser is doing that when someone neglects to add text between the terminators for the link. It should just default to the displaying the url if you don't place text between the BCC terminator and the begining BCC url tag.

    Test
It worked: click the insert URL (write http : // blah, no spaces), then write something (Test) between the ] and [, so it's used as link text.

Below is a insert link attempt with no text inserted before the terminator.
    <a href="http://scalehumans.com" target="_blank"></a>

Note that the above attempt should have defaulted to the url as that is the way BCC code should default.
Here is a link with text
    SOME TEXT

BCC code should not require text. It should default to the url.
But the real problem is when you go back to edit as I am going to do now.
<a href="scalehumans.com" target="_blank">Now I'm editing and inserting this text. The BCC code is gone and there is html code.</a>
After submitting the parser parses the url and converts the html to text.

If you write http://blah it creates http : // blah as text with same address as destination, no insert url button required.

And multiple edits just get rid of the html altogether.
The issue is if you assume the BCC code will default to the url and you try to edit it after finding it won't.

    You're not understanding the issue.
BCC code can be setup to default to the url if you don't place text before the terminator.
You do not have it set up that way.
When someone attempts to edit the post the code is transformed into html by your app.
If you place the text before the html terminator, you end up with both html and BCC code. The html is transformed to text.
    That is the issue,
    it is with the edit.

This forum gives you some ways:
    [list type=1]
[*] write http://blah and it creates the link for you, from http up to the first space (as it just did in this line). No BBCode or button needed, but can get confused with spaces or commas, like in http://blah, for example (notice the comma after the h).
[*] write the full BBCode (all the [ , ] and other required parts, everything), by hand, or with help from the insert button ("help", it does not do everything, you have to write something between ] & [ ).
[*] write something, then select with mouse the desired words, then click the "insert a link" button and write the destination (done for this line, but making sure the destination starts with http in the popup, not just bleh).
    [/list]
Using "preview message" is a good tactic. Avoiding the buttons too, if you can type fast and know the BBCodes already.

    I'm not being clear enough?
It is with editing the link. I know you have options. There is a bug when you edit the link.

Yes that's great news, I CAN wait for awesomeness. Now I know things will happen I can let the 3d flow without too much restrictions.
I really don't like how the multiple part thing works now so when it's possible to combine everything into one product page I will relaunch the CustoMe pieces together with new new :D !! (It never went wrong with ordering btw but I just don't like the multiple pages for one thing ;)

For all of you who haven't noticed FabMe Jewelry is under reconstruction, needz to getz this hustle on before santa flies over !

(Oh and apologies for the late reply, because of a millisecond powerdip at work the memory of two robots failed, so this week was crayzeee)

Here editing a previous (working and correct) post shows only BBCode, no HTML shown ever. And the "app" is SW's (well, someone else, but they install and run it).

Testing something else. <a href="http://test" target="_blank"></a> OK, got HTML now. The system keeps the (invalid?) BBCode but hidden, then shows HTML on next edit, and then converts that HTML to text that is visible (because it doesn't accept HTML, only BBCode, so it believes you typed and wanted < and so on).
