Hello everyone! First post outside of introductions. Pleased to be here and to be communicating with you. :)

I've been working on creating new minimal surfaces as sculptures/decoration/neat things to look at. I would like to share my latest efforts with you.

"Multitudinous Möbius" is my most intricate piece so far. It's a non-orientable surface (like a Möbius strip, it only has one side) and essentially a soccer ball with the faces separated and connected with half-twisted strips. The surface is attached to the edges that you see and is as flat as possible everywhere, which interestingly results in very nice curves.

Here's one based on two icosahedra. This surface hangs from the flower-like frames you see sticking out and the little circles between them (they are hard to see).

Another one. Here the edges are attached to interleaved semicircular rings.

And last but not least (pun unintended), a Möbius strip minimal surface. :)

These have passed printability checks, so hopefully I will post print photos soon.

Thanks for reading. Feedback will be appreciated, especially what you would like to see more of.

And now I'm done (this one, anyway). Here's "Enneper Inflorescence."

Now there's a cute (half-size) version of "Enneper Inflorescence."

Looks great! Did you use Mathematica to make the shapes?

Thank you again. :) No Mathematica, just some of my own code to give me an amount of freedom in designing surfaces.

    New one, "Dodecamobiustar."

Here's another non-orientable surface, this time a Seifert surface (a surface with edges forming a knot or link) bounded by a Brunnian link of three loops (if you remove one loop, the other two become unlinked). You've probably seen the Borromean rings on Shapeways. That link is the simplest Brunnian link and has six crossings, while this one has twelve. I've included overhead and side perspectives for your viewing pleasure.

That's so cool. Thanks for sharing. I'm envious of your math skills. :)

You're a nice person. I wouldn't mind having some of your talent as well.

    Thanks!

I've seen several designs here categorized as sacred geometry. Some of them are nice to look at. What I've read about it appears to draw from Jewish and other mystical traditions and proposes that the existence of certain geometries is the signature of, and the key to understanding, the divine.

In the more general sense of "sacred geometry" I do find the forms of religious architecture and art fascinating, whether it's classical Greek and Persian or more recent Christian, Islamic, and Baha'i structures.

I'm back with the new Multitudinous Möbius pendant. :D

This includes almost half of the sculpture and so hopefully retains the appeal while having the advantages of laying flat against the chest and having higher contrast with the background.

I'd intended to use a male model as well and it's still on the to do list.

Would love to have your comments! Posted as a Beta Product.
