Hi all, I'm in the process of finishing a ring for my girlfriend. I already ordered a couple of tests, made modifications and today I got the first final design in WSF and BSF. I was thinking of taking it to a jewellery shop to get a silver or white gold ring from it, but let's assume it: most of us are here because we like to do everything ourselves. I just wanted to know if there's a farily easy way to do a silver casting ala "lost wax" with a WSF ring at home. If so, what would I need to do it? Thanks a lot.
I would not do a lost wax cast with WSF. The material is a thermoplastic and give off all sorts of fumes. What you could do would be to make a cast like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hellobard/2883593564/ And then cast the metal with another material such as wax. Alternatively, you could wait until we offered wax printing. Or perhaps silver.
What would lead me to another question. How long is it probably going to take till you offer wax or silver? Thanks a lot.
I second that. wait till you offer wax? hmmm.... Maybe the wait wouldnt be as long as we have been thinking? or did you mean that in no "forshadowing" type of way whatsoever?
