Today my new ring and earrings arrived The earrings are in normal stainless steel and the ring is in polished nickel. The polishing of the ring is not so great. There is more detail of the rose lost than I expected in both materials. My mother ordered the ring in silver so I'll have to wait to see how that turns out.
The designs are cool! Next time try ...brass instead of steel for this detailed work. I guess printed steel it is good for door knockers and stuff for furniture.
Thanks I was really interested in how the nickel plated ring would turn out, since nickel stains less than brass and I prefer the greyish steel colour. The pictures of the nickel coating example rabbit are far smoother and shinier than my ring. Actually, the ring does not look any more polished than the raw steel.
I used a piece of sandpaper to polish the models a bit, here is the result: I'm not sure if it's visible on the pictures, but it does make a big difference.
Makes the details a bit shinier , rather yellow dull. Yes looks better. The earring loop part it is 2 mm thick ? I think the earrings looks better attached from other side of them.
