Design in Frosted Ultra Detail

  1. Hello everybody,

I'm working on a project for a scale lightbar.
For this project I need an clear case. Now I knew that Frosted ultra detail wouldn;t be completly clear but I noticed stuff that made me wonder about something.

With a clear coat and nothing else I could get an almost clear case. But I couldn't get the clear coat in the openings of my case so the part that did matter didnt got clear as the top. (see pictures at the bottom of my post).

Know I'm wondering if somebody knows if the design is made solid at the sides. Would it still get clear when coated by clear varnish? I'm not sure it can also solve that part of my design. Or should I make the walls even thinner (0.8mm at the moment).

    Nice project!

Are the walls thicker than the top layer? I can imagine it's either that or printer orientation.

  3. no the walls are even a little bit thinner. 0.8mm.

But what happens is that the clear varnish cant reach the inside of the chambers in the design.

So now i tried with a solid piece without the inner chambers. Hopefully the walls will get clear with clear varnish like the top of this design did.

Hmmm, I imagine it might become a bit murky at thicker parts, but I'd be interested to see the result!
