We get a lot of inquiries and interest in being featured in new materials. The wonderful models were hand selected by our promotions committee. They scoured through model after model to find ones that were loved and would look extra amazing. So lets make their job easier on them, and give you the opportunity to express what you think should be featured.

    Well then, I'll be first...

This is my Heart Cage Pendant.

    Heart Cage Pendant 3.jpg

Why is it awesome and worthy of eternal fame?
Look at it - it's great! And a very well received gift, if I may say. If you want some romantic blurb check out the shop link.

And, because of its complexity, a great test piece for this new process.

It's already been printed in polished (not glossy) silver, so it ticks all those boxes.

    Thank you.

P.s there are earrings too. Heart Cage Earrings, so far only printed in FD.

Still no-one else? Well what about this?

My Roude Leiw Pendant - Circle Frame

Here shown in FD - I would be very interested to see how the detail would come out in Plated Brass.

Here's my first submission, I might post more later... It's a necklace using my design of The Seed of Yggdrasil. I made it so that it would be printable in either metals or in full-color sandstone. It hasn't been printed yet, so here's a preview:

The model can be found here:

I'd be happy to assemble a pen for Shapeways to use and keep as they see fit for feature photos, writing notes to lawyers, or playing Mad Libs. I can use chrome or gold finish pen components to match the printed part.. I'd have a blank made for myself but unless I can get a gaurantee that the sprue point is not inside the cylinder or on the end bands I'd prefer that Shapeways take the first time risk of manufacture for this item, but I would supply the pen kit.

I've redesigned this blank to be compatible with the premium silver design rules. I've also sized the part to not require any post processing, except for the slight possibility of filing the inside of the blank depending on internal surface roughness. All that needs to be done is for the printed blank to be glued or epoxied to the internal brass tube of the pen kit and to then assemble all the parts in a pen press.

Here are 3 designs initially made for Gold Plated Brass.
    Mini D4 Shell Dice Pendant:
It is a small version of one of my favorite dice, the D4 Shell. It is a good D4 (not really hazardous even if you leave it on the floor and you walk barefoot, rolls well). It can also be used as a pendant (since it is hollow, a necklace can go through it) and you can choose which number you want to show.

    New Dod Earrings:
The original version was made of 12 intersecting rings, making a kind of wireframe dodecahedron. Now, it looks rather like a sphere with 12 holes, and is smoother. Simple but elegant.

    MobTof Earrings:
These are the earrings derived from the Half MobTor Pendant. The basic shape is one half of a torus. It can contain a marble (11mm or 7/16") that will roll freely.

These 3 models have less than $2 markup in Gold Plated Brass, making them quite affordable.

The only silver printed thing I have is this ring:
I like it, but it's not anything special.

Since a few weeks I'm able to do judo again. I love the sport and it was really hard not being able to do it for two years. To celebrate, I designed these judo earrings and ring. It shows the judo belt with the Japanese kanji for Judo on it. I'm a bit worried about the engraving, it might be too small. So I also made a version without the kanji. It's not printed yet because I started designing 2,5 hours ago.

Why does Judo need jewelry? Because people think it's unfeminine and only for men. But a lot of women do judo and they can be feminine. However, if you want to show this love for judo, the merchandise is horrible. Big sweaters closer to a tent than female clothing, trashy necklages that just say 'Judo' and lots of unshapely tracksuits.

I would really like to work with the production team to get this to be successful in metal: It doesn't need to be a "premium" metal such as gold or silver, because it will be 99% painted. Mainly just need metal for the weight. Brass? Pewter?

I just modeled this ring, brass knuckles for a single deadly knuckle:

    Here is the model link:

It would be awesome if the new material is brass colored, but this works with any metal. Personally I'd like it in something less saturated but solid... Titanium?

I made this one now, a sundial ring. It would look great if whatever the new material is happens to have a sort of aged look.

DNA Ring. If you recall a few months back in the forum Cheri Cloninger, a PhD student in biology, wanted a DNA ring. When she shopped around she couldn't find anything she liked so she submitted some pictures to the forum and gave a description. The thread is here. From the pictures she had and her description of what she wanted I came up with this design, which she then ordered in Premium Silver and sent me some nice pictures of it to use in my Shapeways store.

Notice how it's the only product I have images of in my store? That's cuz I HATE taking pictures! HAHAHA!!! I have most of the products in my store ordered in silver and will sit down and take pictures of everything at some point. However, it sure would be nice if Shapeways would put together an imaging service! :D

If I had to pic a winner for this from the entries so far I would pick Sal. He's got the largest expenditure of effort into this and he's a damn good artist!

On the other hand, Daphne is proving to be quite creative as well! There should be a runner up prize!

Sorry I have been participating in the forum as of late. I've just been too busy with all kinds of summer activities. :) Once things start cooling down here I'll have lots of time to be a regular forum participant once again.

Super glad I'm not the judge on this contest! Seeing I finally took some decent photos, I wouldn't mind seeing this die featured. I made this die just because a while ago. The only promotion it's had is someone ordered it and liked it and posted about it on their site.

I'd also like to see some featured turtles. Because they're 2 headed and everyone knows, 2 heads are better than 1.
