The Fairbanks-Morse H-10-44, first introduced in 1944, represents one of the classic early switch locomotives. Easily identified by its smooth Raymond Loewy-design features, almost 200 were eventually produced and several survive to this day. This N-Scale (1:160) locomotive shell is designed to allow for the conversion of an Atlas Baldwin VO-1000 into a FM H-10-44. The shell itself is fully assembled while the handrails (as well as extra stanchions) are included on a separate sprue. No modification to the mechanism should be required beyond the removal of the existing Atlas shell. While pilot holes for the handrails are designed into the shell, they should be drilled out before final assembly. A cab interior is also included; in order to fit it however, the locomotive's "rear facing" LED will need to be either removed or relocated. As with all Frosted Ultra Detail (FUD) models, cleaning, painting and decaling are required to complete the locomotive. Sanding with fine-grit sandpaper is also recommended on the accessible flat surfaces.
