This 4x4x4 interlocking cube puzzle was designed when I was on holiday on the beautiful island of Anglesey in Wales. It consists of six different pieces, two of which are rather angular C-shaped pieces, which led me to give this puzzle its rather cryptic name.

This is a very tricky puzzle and the first step is work out how to link the two Cs and get them in the right position to solve the rest of the cube. Jos Bergmans, one of the top designers of interlocking cubes, said "It took me ages to figure out how to fit the two loops together. Very nice design, my compliments."

Another record breaker from Jeff - a 4x4x4 cube with a 27 step solution. Quite extraordinary! This 5 piece 4x4x4 cube has just one external hole but the level of difficulty more than compensates for this. 14 separate steps to remove the first piece! Another 8 moves before the second piece comes out. 2 more moves for the third, and 3 for the fourth completes the disassembly. The pieces will fit into the cube's outline in two different ways but only one of these can be assembled - so if you end up stuck in a dead end, think again.

You can now get a 4 cm Switch Cube for the same price as the original 3 cm cube!

I have started the process of revisiting some of my older puzzles and redesigning the models using the larger hollow format. This gives a significant increase in size for no increase in price. Great for people who are not so keen on tiny puzzle pieces.  Look out for photos of the dyed version soon.

The Switch Cube is a 5x5x5 interlocking cube puzzle made from 9 pieces of varying sizes. You can see a partial solution to this puzzle in the video below.

I have now added the full solution to the Instructions page in the Community Forum

One of the pieces has to be moved like a switch, half way through solving the puzzle - you may find that a small tool, like a pair of tweezers, will help to grip the switch as you slide it across.

Convolution is a seven piece serially interlocking puzzle designed by Stewart Coffin, probably the greatest ever puzzle designer. Stewart has generously placed his designs in the public domain, so I am delighted to present my own interpretation of this lovely puzzle. I made my first copy out of wood over 25 years ago and it is still one I go back to periodically. One of the moves includes a rotation and every move locks the next piece into the previous one.
The pieces of the puzzle are composed of juxtaposed hollow cubelets using a new design. This gives the whole puzzle a lightness and slight flexibility. It also means that the pieces fit snugly together. The whole puzzle is 4 x 4 x 4 cm in size and relatively inexpensive for a printed puzzle of this size.

Three Easy Pieces is an interlocking 3x3x3 cube puzzle. It's not as difficult as some of the other puzzles I have designed, so if you, or someone you know, is just starting out with collecting puzzle cubes, this may be one for you.

I designed this puzzle with Frosted Detail material in mind, so the holes are slightly larger to give the best view of the inside as well as the outside of each piece.

Four hollow cube shapes based on 13 x 13 x 13 1mm cubelets.
The design replaces the straight edge between each cube vertex with a long folded spring. The White Strong and Flexible material is ideal for making a strong, springy cube that can be used to make puzzles and perhaps many other things.

The Triaxial Cube puzzle consists of three identical pieces. This single piece is designed for the White, Black or Transparent Detail material. You will need to order three of these pieces to make the puzzle. Having the puzzle available as a single part allows shoppers to order each part in a different colour (White, Black and Transparent) if desired.

The Seldom Seen Cube made from Complex Cubelets.
Each unit cube is composed of two interlocked parts - the rings on the six faces are joined into a cage that surrounds the central pins which are connected to the cube's corners. Adjacent cubes fuse together at their faces, corners and central pins but the two halves remain completely separate.

Lambada is Jeff Namkungs first 4x4x4 cube to require rotations in the solutions and as soon as you see the pieces you know there's going to be plenty of them. The solution is classed as 3.1.9. It's easy when you know how, but it could take you a long time to get there.

This complex cube consists of a single piece. Each corner of the cube is connected to its neighbours by a tortuous path that can be traced through the interior of the cube. The whole cube is quite springy when printed in WSF plastic.

New larger hollow format.

Quaturnery Qube is my fourth 4x4x4 cube puzzle design and has four pieces.  It has a unique level 4.3.4  solution that includes one rotation.

It's a great little puzzle with a tricky solution and some nice moves. Have fun!

Superegg first described by Piet Hein.
Golden Superegg has specially selected dimensions and ratios suggested by Anthony Rizzo (just Google it).
Basic shape created in Imagine for Windows and cleaned up in Blender.
Superegg mesh reduced from 1766 to 500 faces in Imagine.
Mesh imported into TopMod2 and remeshed with Doo Sabin, then Wireframe remeshed.

I think it looks beautiful, but it is too fragile to print a real gold-plated one in metal.
Now increased to 10 cm tall and printed in WSF.

These strange mathematical shapes make rather lovely Christmas decorations. Each loop appears to consists of five twisted strands but, in fact, the whole object is composed of a single strand.

At this scale they have a soft springy feel but keep their shape well when handled, suspended or rested on a surface. Don't drop them though or, rather like a Slinky, you may have some careful untangling to do.

Extruded from the pentagonal faces on a buckyball using TopMod.

I have a confession to make. Even though I love all of Jos Bergmans creations, I completely overlooked this one until today. This is not one to miss - it's simply sublime. It's probably not one for beginners but puzzle enthusiasts will love it! The six pieces will clearly fit together in only one way, but how to get them there? If you're a fan of Jos's puzzles you won't be surprised to learn that the solution involves at least one rotation, so it's no use turning to your computer for the solution. Presented in the new larger 4.0 cm open format.

Another one of Jos Bergmans' great 4x4x4 puzzle cubes. This one requires rotations and has a great surprise ending. Even though I have previously solved this puzzle, it still took me a good 20 minutes to refind the solution. If you haven't done this one before, I would allow considerably longer. Presented in the new larger 4.0 cm open format.

This 3D printed puzzle is one of my most complex and lovely designs.

It takes thirteen steps before the first piece comes free. The 'switch' is flicked at step 5. When reassembling the puzzle, it may be easier to slide the switch piece with a pair of tweezers or a small pointy thing. One of the steps in the solution is a rotation, which makes it harder for computer programs like Burr Tools to find the solution.

This 5 cm hollow version has been optimised to provide maximum puzzle size at minimum cost. It is also ideally suited to being dyed in a variety of colours.

Continuing in the tradition of naming my puzzles after the places where they were invented, here is my latest brand new puzzle design. Ludlow is an interlocking 6 piece 4x4x4 puzzle cube. To assemble this puzzle you will need to discover the correct sequence of sliding and rotational moves as the pieces become locked together. Be warned - as you slot the last piece into the solid cubic outline, there is no simple way to push it out again. The pieces are carefully designed to fit together snugly so it should not fall out on its own. Fortunately, the hollow design of the pieces means that it will be quite easy to hook it out with a small tool or knock it out by tapping the correct face of the cube against your hand.

This complex shape was designed on a computer using TopMod 2, and then 3D printed in stainless steel.
It is based on a simple tetrahedron where each of the four vertices is connected to the other three by a straight line - except the lines are no longer straight but tortuously curved into a tangled mess inside the tetrahedron.
Could be used as a desk ornament, a zip puller or a key ring tag.
